@Puzzled may be called puzzled but there is nothing puzzling about their talent and knack for detail showcased in the amazing pokemon artwork they've created! We've finally captured them for an interview! We choose you to tell us about yourself in this interview!
It's time to solve you @Puzzled! Introduce yourself! What should the community know about you?
"Right! Well, I tend to draw Pokemon. Still not confident drawing people. But, I still want to improve! Always loved seeing people's art, the ability to turn a blank canvas to an illustration still feels like magic. And now I'm making my own drawings now! What more should I add? Who knows? Oh, well! I'm Puzzled! It's nice to meet you!"

What are your inspirations and how did you develop such a distinct painting style? Your artwork makes me think of video games with cell-shaded graphics!
"I guess I take inspiration from other people's art. Other people can come up with all kinds of ideas I never would have on my own. I'm also inspired by the views I've seen. A walk through the woods. The cliffs by the sea. The setting sun. It all looks amazing and I want to capture that!"
"I, too, would like to know how I developed that painting style! My best guess would be that it came about naturally but still how is it distinct? Maybe it's because I like playing with my lights and shadows and that had a bigger impact in the way I draw to the point it became my style... Or because I've played video games with cell-shaded graphics and it affected the way I draw without me knowing. Who knows? It's quite the puzzle!"

How did you discover Colors? What's your favorite thing about the community?
"I started off drawing on the 3DS using the Art Academy games. From there, I wanted to see what other drawing apps were available on the eshop, where I found out about Colors. I actually had Colors on my wishlist for several months before I got the nerve to try it out. And I'm glad I did! Love the community her!"
"Hmmm, something I really like about the community here in Colors is the challenges people come up with. The RD contest. Pass the gift. Contests. Weekly Challenges. Chatrooms too! Nothing like that from the Art Academy games and I feel it makes Colors more than just a drawing application."

What's your painting process? Do you use any other software or mediums?
"My painting process, hmmm. Not too sure! I guess I would say I start off with a doodle of an idea. If I like it, I would continue working on it. Trying different things with it. Experiment with it. Try to refine it. And if I like it enough, I'll finish it and post it. Otherwise, I'll start again. It's very common for me to have different copies of the same drawing to see how something looks like when trying to see how something looks to one version compared to another."
"If Art Academy games and Miiverse count as other software, then yes! That being said, up to now I've drawn exclusively on the 3DS. But I guess with upcoming circumstances, I'll be trying to draw on the Switch soon."
What Colors artworks are you most proud of and why?
"Hmmm, I'd say that would be "Ruins of Alph" and "Curry." Love the atmosphere of the ruins drawing! And I still want that curry IRL!"
"I'm soooo close to making a large list lol. But there's lots of other artists I love for various reasons. These one's are the ones I've been a long time admirer."
"There's lots of drawings I've seen that I love outside of Colors, but not so much in artists that I even follow. That's moreso here in Colors. But I would like to mention one who I consider the person who inspired me to draw in the first place. They go by tatanRG in deviantart."
Dreams and goals for the future?
"I want to tell a story someone might enjoy. I'm not sure how this story will be shared. Book? Comic? Animation? Maybe even a video game? I always loved reading and listening to stories and I would love to add my own to the many, many stories out there!"
You have so much amazing pokemon artworks! Whats your favorite Pokemon, your ideal pokemon team, and favorite Pokemon generation(s)?
"Soooo many to pick from it's hard to choose. Seriously, I struggle to form an ideal team. I'm always swaping out pokemon and then swaping others back in. My ideal team would be the ability to have multiple teams at once! But there is one constant in my team. One of my favorite pokemon Dragonite! I still remember when I first played being so excited finding a dratini that I did everything I could to add it to my team. And when I found out it would evolve to a Dragonite, I couldn't wait to have my own. In other games, I always wanted to see if and where I can get Dragonite. Over time, I noticed that regardless what pokemon were in my team and what game I was playing, Dragonite was always there! Dragonite looks kind, is strong, and very huggable. It's known as a pokemon that likes to help others. What's there not to love about Dragonite!"
"Favorite generation, hmmm. I feel like my answer always changes depending on my mood and interests. For now, I'll say gen 3! Love playing around with secret bases. Not to mention it's the generation with a hot spring and a town made up of tree houses!"

Grass, fire, or water types? What starter do you prefer? What are your favorite Pokemon types in general?
"The ultimate choice when starting a pokemon game! Can't say my choice is always consistent, but I tend to prefer water type starters. Love the sea and the color blue. And in general, my favorite type is Dragon types. I've always loved dragons. Especially how they exist in so many stories and can look so very different, yet are always seen as a dragon. From the intimidating land shark to the apple wyrm, it's always fascinating to see what Pokemon considers a dragon. As well as what's not a dragon!"

What advice do you have for young artists or in general?
"A bit roundabout, but there once was an art group who made drawings and stories I loved. And I wanted to join them! But I didn't draw back then. I would always tell myself: "I'll learn to draw some day." Everyday. Until one day, the art group ended up closing."
"I was devastated I missed my chance. It was only until after they shutdown that I actually started trying to learn to draw by getting an Art Academy game. I don't want to miss an opportunity again. But at the same time, it's probably because I missed out on that group that I ended up here in Colors."
"My advice: Don't be afraid to try out an opportunity. Who knows when you'll get another chance. But at the same time, don't dwell on missed opportunities either. Maybe something else will come along. Something better! One of my favorite mottos is "nothing ventured, nothing gained!"
