@sparks516 brightens up the Colors gallery with their creative spark! The way they draw their brilliant superhero themed fanart will make you a fan! I know I am! Let's superhero land into this interview and learn about the person beneath the mask!
We've always sensed a spark from you @sparks516 ! What can you tell us about yourself? Who're you and what's your origin story? Would you care to enlighten us?
"Hello there! Well, I'm a left-handed, part english/Portuguese artist who loves drawing stuff from whatever piece of media grabs my attention!""
"I wouldn’t really say I have much of an origin if I'm being honest. I mean, for my username, I picked @sparks516 because I thought it sounded cool. I’m pretty sure I came up with it like wayy back in 2016 for some random game and since then, just kinda ran with it."

You seem like a big superhero fan! Are they your biggest inspirations? What else motivates and inspires you?
"Yess! Definitely, the whole concept of superheroes is just so cool to me. Especially the Spider-Verse franchise, those movies honestly changed my brain chemistry when it came to art."
"And for what else inspires me, I'd have to say just cartoons and animation in general. Watching any media like that always gives me a massive boost when it comes to drawing and always makes me want to keep improving."

How and when did you discover the Colors Live community? What made you decide to join and stick around?
"I think I discovered the Colors Live community in like May of 2022? When I originally got the game for christmas, I had no idea you could actually upload your drawings online."
"I remember making my account and being TERRIFIED when it came to making my first post, but then I got my first few likes and comments and it really made me more confident about posting my stuff online in general."
Do you use any other software or mediums to make art? If so, what are they and how does Colors Live fit into your process? Are there any features from other apps that you like to see in Colors Live?
"Nope! Colors is actually the only software I use to make my drawings. It was my first proper step into digital art."
Colors art that you're the most proud of?
Ooh, if I had to narrow it down i’d probably say:
miles & gwen, I mean it’s my most liked drawing, and I think I did a pretty good job of recreating the actual scene.
spot, I like the vibe that the drawing has, I tried to make it really dramatic and i think that it came out pretty neat.
art (mike wazowski one ?), unironically one of my favourite posts i’ve made on here. I don’t know what possessed me to draw it but I'm glad I did. I love the way miles turned out in it.
Top 3 favorite Colors artworks?
That’s a tough one, it changes all the time, but at the moment I’d have to say:
happy birthday! By @kaya_b, it’s terrifying, I love it.
Wake up already idiot By @JellyRabbit, the way it’s rendered just tickles my brain.
Who're your favorite artists on and off of Colors Live?
"I think for Colors I’d have to choose @Hailsss. I love her style and the way she renders her work. I can always tell it’s her work from like a mile away."

"And for off Colors, Cory Walker. I’ve recently finished the INVINCIBLE comics and I personally love his style at the end of the series."
What are your goals and ambitions for the future? With so many superhero fanarts on your page am I right to assume that you have an interest in superhero comics or cartoons?
"Yep! For the future I'd love to do something superhero or cartoon related. I’ve been wanting to get into making animatics or animations. Maybe try drawing comics?. Honestly I'm not entirely sure."

Since you mostly draw fanart on Colors Live is there any other type of artworks that you want to try but haven't? If you do, then what are they?
"Realism. I really want to try drawing more realistic pieces to help practise my anatomy and just rendering in general."

Creative burnout... are you able to resist it? How do you avoid or suppress it if you get it?
"Nope..! I have definitely had my fair share of creative burnout. Usually I just wait it out until something peaks my interest and I feel inspired enough to draw. I appreciate your loose, sketchy style! How did you develop it? Is art style something a young artist should focus on or is it better to just keep drawing until your art develops an identity of it's own?"
"I’d say I developed my style just by just watching a ton of different cartoons, and taking note of how other artists' approach certain things in their work and why."
"I definitely think artists should at least keep style in mind when it comes to their art, because I know it can be very hard to break certain habits when it comes to drawing."
What advice do you have for artists or anyone in general?
"Trust the process."
"That's what I tell myself at least. You just gotta stick with your work and see where it goes."
Discord question from alrightymoose: What drove you to the decision of pursuing art? Challenges that come with art can be very discouraging and hard to get through, and not many make it and can quit, stay at only a certain level of art, etc. but you and many beautiful artists continued, I'd love to know your perspective of what made you have the want to continue and improve!!
"I think it’s the fact that art gives you so much freedom and allows you to share your own take and perspective on things. Allowing you to give your own insight into something and being able to share it."
