Colors Gallery, meet sharp_eyed_detective

@sharp_eyed_detective or aka Agent Ane is known for their "sharp" eye for detail(being a detective this is no surprise) and for making an awesome detective comic here on the Colors Gallery! Since the investigation is over let's all review the findings about them!

It's time for us to investigate YOU. Who're you ? What's your past? Give us a clue!

"What!? I'm usually the one asking the questions! Hmmph!"

"Here is “sharp_eyed_detective”! Or you can call me “sheydet” for short. Like many people in this community, I enjoy playing VIDEOGAMES!!! Some of my favorite sagas and series are: Metal Gear Solid, Smash Bros, The Legend of Zelda, Animal Crossing and Pokémon.
Digital art is also a great passion of mine. I have drawn for as long as I can remember.
Over time, my sister and I began to create the most incredible characters and stories we could imagine. The imagination of two siblings is INFINITE!"

I see you have a really awesome looking ongoing comic. What's the story about? What're your inspirations? I assume you're fan of detective or crime related media like Sherlock Holmes, Detective Conan, games where you find clues etc.

"You hit the nail on the head! “You know my methods, Watson”.I'm a HUGE FAN of detective and crime themed stories."

"I've loved puzzles and riddles since I was young (thanks, mainly, to LEVEL-5 with their awesome Professor Layton games!). And I adore thinking about the complex detective stories in movies and novels - you have to be on the lookout for clues and spot the culprit before it's too late!"

"Indeed, I do a lot of research on police methods, forensic procedures and protocols, because I find it a fascinating world for curious minds. Gathering information to reconstruct past events is mind-boggling to me."

"My sister and I wanted to create two different stories that worked in a complementary way.
So, it all started when I created a POLICE character... and my sister decided to get in the way of my plans by creating... THIEVES!?"

"This is how Agent Neo, chief of police detectives in the great Somber City, was born. I'll try to explain the main plot as well as I can in the next lines:

An anonymous call alerting of a heinous crime put a patrol car in front of a young girl holding a mysterious broken pocket watch. Lacking family members, the girl's guardianship was left in the hands of one of the officers in charge of the case. Years went by and she began working in the same special unit that took her in, accomplishing feats and rising through the ranks.

"One night, on her way home from work, she was murdered under strange circumstances. But this woman “refused to die”: That night, a light emanating from her pocket watch brought her back to life, but when she returned, she remembered NOTHING of her previous life!"

"With no witnesses and no clues, the case was barred for lack of evidence. With no memory of her past and reinstated in the police unit, this woman is renamed "Neo." She fights a growing crime wave with her group of police detectives, consisting of a fearful forensic photographer (Eric), a handsome police inspector (Jack) and a brilliant weapons and electronics expert (Katt)."

Police detective team from Somber City: Eric, Neo, Jack and Katt

"They are currently on the trail of a serial killer who has already claimed several victims. Neo attempts to unlock her memories and investigate her past life and identity, despite the fact that there is not a single record of it in any police files!?"

"Neo searches for the culprit of her murder and the person who covered it all up. This story takes on sci-fi elements that I love, such as superpowers and time travel (god, I love reflecting on time paradoxes)."

Neo I assume is the main character of your story and I have to say I really like her design! Is she modelled after you ? I know some creators tend to give their characters aspects from themselves or people they know. Or is she inspired by other fictional characters?

"No, she is not modelled after me. In fact, she is many things that I am not! Hahaha!
Well, I wanted to create someone who was brave and strong enough to fit perfectly into the story. She had to have a leader's soul and a good heart so she could always decide for the good of the world. But she also has her flaws (no one is perfect) She has a very bad temper when she gets angry and is quite stubborn."

"I couldn't tell you what inspired me to create her, but the characters of the Layton saga had a lot to do with her."

What made you want to do a detective comic? Also how can fans and potential fans find your comic if they want to read it?

"When I was 6 years old, I would take some sheets of paper, doodle on them and staple them together like a comic book. They were not good (they were terrible haha), but I remember it fondly."

"I thought that maybe someday I could create a professional comic book. That illusion motivated me to keep drawing for many years to come. Furthermore, this year I graduated in computer engineering, so I also dream of creating a videogame someday!!"

"About the comics I created, I have a lot of content in my native language (Spanish), and I try to translate it little by little to share it through social networks (For example, you can find me on Artfol as @sheydet)."

"I would like to apologize to all the Colors users who ask me several times about the story!!! I still have a lot of work to translate and I will surely start introducing the characters very soon here on The Colors Gallery. Please, I will ask for a little patience."

You have a very distinct art style. What's your process and how did you develop it?

"One thing that helps me a lot is using auxiliary lines. Auxiliary lines all over the place!!!!"

"Also, I tend to simplify the characters into geometric shapes, so it helps me visualize volumes. Each character has some characteristic shapes, for example: Eric, who is a very tender and sensitive boy will have more rounded strokes, while Lowell, who is a very dangerous hitman, will have sharp, triangular lines. It's a lot of fun to think this way. Once you have it, it's a matter of piecing those shapes together."

"I always use the airbrush for lineart. The key is just playing with opacity and size/thickness of the brush. Et voilà!"

You're been posting in our community since 2016. How did you discover the community and what're your favorite things about it? Any features you would like to see? What other mediums or software do you use if any?

"I really started using Colors in 2014, when I asked my parents to buy the colors!3D game from the eShop for my birthday. I lost the password to my old account and was never able to access it again (What a mistake!)."

"What I love most about this community is the people who are very welcoming and always willing to help and participate in the cool events you organize in Colors Gallery.
I still feel that the community is as vibrant as it was years ago and that's something I'm really happy about. I wish with all my heart that the community will be just as thriving in the future."

"I am a user of Colors for the nintendo 3ds, and I have learned to work with the only 3 brushes it comes with. I am very happy with it, since they are limited tools, I have been able to master them."

"But in my particular case, I usually need external software to make comics. I draw ALL the comic panels in Colors!3D , but for dialogue bubbles and some effects like onomatopoeias, I do them with IbisPaint X on my tablet."

Any art advice? Especially for those interested in making comics? Do you plan your comics well ahead of time or do you sort of come up with ideas as you go?

"Yuups, I have some that helped me!"

"The most important one: DON'T GIVE UP. NEVER. If you want to make progress, you have to keep trying. One thing that is very demoralizing is to compare your art with the art of professional artists. It happened to me."

"It's clear that we all start from the bottom, so if you want to compare, I recommend that you always compare with your own previous art, not with other artists. You will always see progress if you really try!"

"I'm not a professional illustrator (pfffph! far from it), I do it purely for fun. But I'm very observant, and I look a lot at anatomy for action poses. That is very useful for comics with action scenes."

"For the story, it is VERY IMPORTANT to have an idea in mind. In my personal case, if I don't plan it before, it won't come out fine. I have to think things through before I start drawing."

"In my comics, I start with a main idea: Your characters always have to have a "why", a goal to accomplish and obstacles they will have to overcome. You have to plan it beforehand!"

What's an interesting fact about you not much people know? Something about you hardly anyone will notice?

"I am a very VERY shy person. A few years ago I was terrified to show my drawings to the people around me."

"This comes from when I was a little girl. I didn't like to show my drawings, I wouldn't let anyone see them for fear of being made fun of. So I hid them in a small notebook to which only my sister and I had access. It was our big secret!"

"She was the one who encouraged me to show them and gave me the strength to face that fear. I was always afraid that people would laugh at my stuff and that I
would never be taken seriously."

"I just needed that push that my sister gave me. I owe everything to her! Thank you, sis. I love you!"

"Also my native language is Spanish, so I hope that you can understand what I meant to say with no problems!"

What're your goals for the future? Your comic is very polished so are you doing comics professionally or interested in that?

"As I mentioned before, I am not a professional illustrator, but I strive every day to improve my art skills and fulfill my dream of publishing a comic book that people can enjoy and like as much as I do!"

Do you ever get art block when working on your comic? How do you overcome it if you do?

"Artblock is something that happens to all of us. Of course I have artblock sometimes. Who doesn't?"

"When you are worried for some reason or busy with something else, the ideas just don't flow.
So in those cases, I like to read and look for information about criminal investigation. And when I don't feel like researching anymore either, I play videogames, go for a walk... anything that takes your mind off things!"

"It will just go away, don't get discouraged if you're going through artblock right now!!!!""

Anyone on Colors Live you want to shout -out? Who should we investigate next?

"Yes, of course. Thank you very much for giving me this opportunity, I was very impressed that you interviewed me. (My god, what a great honor!!! )."

"If you are looking for clues for your investigation, I recommend keeping an eye on the account of my dear sister @St5rb0und , who has been in the community as long as I have. She has helped me to get this far, thank you sis!!"

"Her style stands out for bright colors, and very adorable chibi original characters. She also does a lot of fanart of Animal Crossing, TLoZ and Pokemon. So if you are looking for a very characteristic and funny cartoon style, I suggest you visit her gallery."
