Colors Gallery, meet lycario_

@lycario_ we choose you! It's not hard to figure out why since one of their abilites is creating awesome pokemon art among other artworks as well! And did we mention that they're an awesome fusion of lucario and lycario, as well? Now let's learn the rest of their stats!

@lycario_ how do you do? Tell us about yourself!

"Hey everyone I'm lycario!! I'm a young (Aquarius) girl with a passion for making art, playing video games and watching anime lol."

I see a lot of fantastic pokemon, animal crossing, zelda and splatoon artwork in your gallery! Needless to say, but it seems you're quite the nintendo fan! Are those your main inspirations and do you have anymore? What gets you to pick up you pen/stylus ? Also when did you begin your art journey?

"I am indeed a HUGE Nintendo fan. I feel like as soon as I was born I had a ds in my hands! I would say that it's probably my main inspiration, their characters are just so expressive, colorful, and fun! How can I resist drawing them? I was raised with it. Zelda was some of my first games, i didn't play at first, only watched. Playing them is a family tradition. My mom played when she was a kid, then my big sister and now me! Nintendo isn't my only inspiration though, I also love anime and indie animations!!"

"I think what gets me to pick up my pen is my love for fictional characters!! I love fantasy and anything magical and getting to make art to show my love for these things! Drawing things is my love language."

"I began drawing when I was very little, back when my family looked like scary potato people lol. What originally inspired me to keep drawing was my older sister. I always wanted to be like her, she is also a digital artist! I love her so much and wanted her to think I was a great artist too (she does btw!!)"

So cute!!! <3 by lycario_

You joined us over two years ago back in March 2022! How did you discover Colors Live? What made you say "Y'know what? Guess I'l stick around!" Do you use any other mediums or software? And anything you'd want to see implemented in Colors Live at some point?

"I was given a hard copy of colorslive for Christmas but didn't make an account right away since I didn't have a phone at the time or an email."

"I would draw things sometimes, when I wasn't playing Pokemon or something lol. I didnt have much experience with digital art since I was a more traditional style artist. My art on my switch was definitely not great but one day I decided I really wanted to improve and I kept trying and practiced with it till I completely understood how it worked. Soon after I was able to make my account, and for the first time, post my art online! I really like the community and the artists I interact with and that helped with wanting to stick around!!"

"I used do draw on my laptop but it didn't hold my interest as well unfortunately. I still like to draw on paper, especially on my homework. I work with a lot of alcohol markers and I have over 150 by now! As others have said brushes like pencil, paint and others like that would be awesome to see here someday!!"

Who're your favorite artist both on and off of Colors?

"I have a lot of artists on YouTube that I admire like Marikyunn and Lavendertowne! On colors, my favorite artists I would say are @Meganekko , @Hailsss and @Loaf-of-Bread_ . All of them are incredible and help to inspire me too!! Thank you all and you're all amazing artists!!"

Which artworks of yours are you the most proud of? (You have a lot of great stuff so surely picking a favorite would be difficult!)

"My Lucario drawing (-my favorite pokemon-) is one of my favorites for sure!!

Also I love my pumpkaboo Halloween drawing (it's the great pumpkaboo ash Ketchum!) it was a request from my mom that turned out a million times better than I thought!!

And lastly my Zelda color wheel (the colors of the legend of Zelda) it's the drawing that has taken me the longest with 40+ hours and I love how it turned out, it holds all the memories of all the games I've played over the years!

Top 3 favorite Colors artworks?

My top three drawing on colors are:

"Majoras mask" by @Hailsss which was one of the drawings that inspired me to make my account.

"wolf link and midna" by @st5rb0und I gave it my first and only super like and regret nothing lol!! It's an amazing drawing of some of my favorite characters of all time and the colors and composition is incredible!!

And finally "don't mind the background I can't draw lmao" by @Nekko_Chu it's an adorable drawing made by one of my favorite artists with a character I made!! It makes me so happy to see!!

Lycario... An awesome fusion between Lucario and Lycanroc who are both really cool pokemon even just on thier own! I assume you're a fan of poke-fusions? What other poke-fusions would you want to make? What would your dream pokemon team be, both fusion and non-fusion?

"A little quick lore on the name, I made up the name lycario when I was playing pretend with my dog (rip my sweet girl!! <3) and I was pretending my character has Pokemon that could fuse and her two main Pokemon Lucario and lycanroc fused together! After I made the name I was obsessed with it and loved telling my mom about it lol!!"

"I'm a big fan of poke-fusions!! It's such a cool concept like something straight out of the first Pokemon manga (which was really crazy). I've wanted to play Pokemon infinite fusions but I haven't been able to unfortunately."

"I love fusions with eevee, Umbreon and most of all mimikyu!! I love the way the artists make him into different Pokemon."

"I actually don't have a dream fusion team but it would for sure have lycario on it! My dream team would have all my favorites on it, Lucario as my ace, lycanroc preferably dusk from, Umbreon, luxray, banette, and slowpoke!! I know slowpoke isn't everyone's first choice but he's always held a place in my heart!"

If you could add a new mechanic or two along with a new region to the next pokemon games what would you want? Is there anything from older generations you would want to bring back?

"Idk if it counts but like how they made hisui for legends: Arceus (which is my favorite pokemon game) I want a legends game for unova with its own region since that's another favorite of mine too!!"

"I haven't thought much about new mechanics but what if you could be something other than a trainer or coordinator, don't get me wrong, I love those roles but what if you could be a nurse that works to heal sick Pokemon, a gym leader, a professor that researches and meets new trainers, or you could even be a team rocket member? I know they're are fan games and spinoffs with an idea somewhat like this but I mean an official thing where you still catch Pokemon and raise them too!"

"I hope in the next upcoming game they bring back mega evolution with new ones too!! Definitely one of their best mechanics!! And I hope we get to keep cooking too!!"

If you were tossed into the pokemon world at random, what would be the first thing you would do and where would you go?

"If I'm tossed into the Pokemon world I hope I'm in my favorite region, sinnoh!! If I'm in the anime I better go find Ash ASAP so I can be a main character lol!! I actually have an OC for the anime and she got her Lucario as a runaway riolu from the lab so I guess I would head there and hope for the best lol!"

What're your goals and plans for the future?

"I plan to finish school, go to college, and get a job in art whatever it is. I've wanted to work as an artist for drawing story boards lately since I obviously love to draw in a cartoon-ish style. I want to live with my little sister a least for a while. She's my best friend and we love being together and hope to get to stay that way after we move out!!"

What advice do you have that's close to your heart? What should young artist always remember?

"Some advice I hold dear to me is "don't make art for others, to get likes and be famous, make it because it's what you want to make, when you want to make it." Idk where I heard it or when but it's a great bit of advice! I understand this even more now that I post my art. Sometimes when you want people to notice your art you post things because other people want to see it and end up sometimes loosing a passion for it later which is an absolute tragedy."

"Young artists should remember this and should know that having to trace something isn't always wrong. I went a big chunk of my younger art years thinking that tracing is never ok. As long as you give credit where it's due (which should also be remembered) you'll be fine. If tracing helps you make art you can, just make sure to never steal someone's art and give the og artist their credit. Please don't steal art but if you struggle with drawing something, learn from an example till you don't struggle anymore!!"

Do you event get burnt out making so much cool art? How do you handle it?

"I do get burned out sometimes. Sometimes the best thing to do in that situation is to just take a break and focus on other things. When I get art block, all I want to do is draw but if I force it nothing comes out right which just gets me frustrated. I just need to spend my time doing literally anything else. Listening to music, watching anime, playing games. All of which inspire me, and eventually I get another idea and can't wait to make it!"

Anyone you choose to shout-out?

"I want to give shout outs to my mom for always supporting me and my art and just being the best mom I could ask for, my older sister for being my role model, original inspiration, and getting me into Pokemon in the first place, and my little sister for always being my best friend and being the one person I can tell anything too. I love you all so much!!" <3

"Also shout out to my fellow artists, followers, and the whole colors team for making all this possible!!"

"Thank you so much for choosing me as the artist of the week!! It's a huge honor!!"

"Ps, been experiencing a saving issue once in a while where it will freeze during the saving process and I eventually have to close the game, loosing my progress. Sorry if this isn't the time to bring it up or you're already aware."

That wraps up our interview with @lycario_ ! The Colors Team would like to thank you for your time! I'd choose them as an artist to follow!
