An artist who is always looking to improve their craft of drawing and with a passion for vocaloids, vtubers, visual novels and most things anime, @intmon shows off this love with a quality gallery and continues to step the bar higher for themselves! We know you're all itching to get to know more about intmon so let us delay no further, let's get to know them!
It's time to introduce yourself @intmon ! What do we need to know about you? What's your origin story?
Hi, I'm intmon, I'm from the UK! I'm a second year student studying computer science, but drawing is what I'm truly passionate about. I've been drawing anime girls since I was 10, and I'm trying hard to keep improving and make my past self proud.

Spectacular gallery! You have well defined strokes and your use of perspective is to be admired! What would you say were your biggest inspirations and influences as you progressed through your art journey?
I was drawing almost exclusively girls for a pretty long time, but I've always admired those illustrations with beautiful backgrounds and atmospheres, so I've been trying my best to become someone who can make them. Stuff like splash art for games, visual novel/anime backgrounds and stuff you might set as your desktop wallpaper really inspire me.

So how'd you come across the Colors community? What made you decide to go "Hey this community is solid! Maybe I'll stick around!"?
I got colours live a few years ago for the fun of being able to draw on my switch, but it wasn't until I actually had it that I realised I could share my art too. It's really lovely being able to post something I've worked hard on and have people see it and say such nice things. It's amazing seeing other people's work too, there are so many incredibly talented people here.
The way you put scenes together in your art is something really worth appreciating! What's your usual process as an artist? Do you meticulously plan every detail, are you more intuitive, or is it mix of both?
I'd say it's a mix. Generally I'll start with something really rough so that I don't forget what I want to do, then draw a perspective grid and try and build from that, trying to properly construct and make it feel as 'solid' as I can.

Your gallery is definitely quality over quantity! Despite your gallery still being small do you have any favorite pieces or artworks that you're the most proud of? Which ones would you say push you the most were the most rewarding?
I think one of my favourites must be the corner shop i drew last year, I'm kinda proud of all the detail I got into it, and it reflects a point at which I finally started to really enjoy drawing places and backgrounds.

I love, LOVE the rendering in this, the translucent effect is so gorgeous.

I think the design and all of the textures look so so cool, when I first saw it it immediately caught my eye.

I just find this insanely cool, the level of rendering on the mecha and sense of scale is done so so well I love it!
Favorite artist on and off Colors Live? Which ones would you say inspire you the most and why?
My favourite artist on Colors Live has got to be @Atarute, their work feels really original and atmospheric, and the way they use markmaking and colour is really beautiful.

Off colors, a recent favourite I found has been Tsutomu Nihei. He drew these insanely cool sci fi dystopian backgrounds character designs in his manga Blame, which really inspire me.
Do you use any other software , hardware or mediums for art? How does Colors Live fit into your work flow?
I think generally I draw on my pc a lot, although recently I've been getting back into traditional mediums and using sketchbooks again. For the times that I'm away from my pc though or want to draw digitally and stay in bed, I absolutely love using colors live! It's super nice getting to draw digitally on the go. For instance, a while ago I was on a longish train with my switch, and I got to draw digitally from life, which was super nice.

We're hoping to be working on a switch 2 version of Colors Live or a Colors Live 2 once we get devkits from Nintendo! What new tools or QoL upgrades would you want to personally see from these future iterations of Colors feature wise?
Ooh, maybe a way to stretch selections? I generally love how simple the Colors ui is, but that's one thing that's pretty hard to do without a dedicated tool.
Give us some perspective on perspective! A lot of your works use it quite well! How'd you get so good at it? What should artist struggling with it know?
Lots and lots of practice, lol. I used to really hate drawing backgrounds, but over time I found myself genuinely enjoying them instead of having to force myself, which makes the process of trying to practice and improve wayy easier. I think the single thing that has helped as well is practicing proper ovals/ellipses in persp, which as well as expanding the range of things you can draw, also enables you to do loads of fun tricks, like rotating objects, opening doors, scaling items correctly, etc. Once you're comfortable with ellipses it's crazy how powerful they are.

Vocaloids and vtubers seem to be a big interest of yours! Which ones happen to be your favorites? Would ever see yourself designing a vocaloid or even becoming a vtuber? If you were to become a vtuber, what would your avatar be like?
For vocaloids, my top two have got to be megurine luka and vflower, although I love them all<3
I think if I was to design a vocaloid or vtuber I'd want to try leaning into a sci fi/android type of look, recently I've been falling in love with that aesthetic. That said, character design is pretty hard so I think I'd struggle, lol.
How would you say you developed your art style? Was it mostly developed by using others art as inspiration or did you develop it subconsciously without thinking about it much? Also, what would you say is key to creating a memorable art style that stands out among others?
I used to look at quite a few things about how to develop your art style, but in the end my style has kinda just naturally progressed through what I find easiest to draw and design choices within that that I like the most. I'm kinda of the belief that it generally doesn't matter too much, but if you do want to steer your style in a certain direction, it seems like studying artists that use that style is a pretty good strategy. Being able to consciously do that will probably help create something unique too.

If you could create your own MMORPG what would be about? What would be the story and setting?
Something nice and comfy I think, with lots of social opportunities and customization!

You seem to really like the vtuber streamer nejiko! What do you like the most about them? Could you ever see yourself being a streamer too?
Nejiko is a fantastic streamer, she's really funny, and actively pushes back against all of the bad behaviour and toxicity in the vtubing space, which I find really admirable. I've thought about streaming myself before, but having my voice immortalized is pretty scary so not something in the near future lol.

What's some random, interesting advice you can share?
Yoghurt pots are really good stuck in the freezer for like an hour or so, I recommend it a lot!
Favorite song from a vocaloid or cover from a vtuber?
There are so many, but first that comes to mind is "melody..." by mikuru396. I love it, and it has sentimental value being on of the first vocaloid songs I really got into.
What video games have you been enjoying lately? Anything you can recommend?
Atm more than anything, pikmin bloom! It means I'm actually touching grass and the stupid little pikmin things are too cute.
Burnout, how do you handle it? When the creative juices dry up, what helps get them flowing again?
I did have a massive period of burnout/art block a few months ago, the best I could really do was draw something little whenever I had the energy to, which was not much but far far better than nothing. Usually in those kinda times the vast majority of attempts I make won't amount to much, but as long as I keep trying eventually I'll make something I like again or find a spark that helps rebuild my motivation.

We have less than half the year left! How has 2025 treated you so far? Did you have any major goals you accomplished this year? What about 2026 and beyond?
I think it's been ok! I dont think my skills have changed too much, but I've become a much healthier person, and I've become much better and braver at drawing in public, which has been very fun. I think in the future, I'd like to draw much more consistently, and start working on more cool atmospheric pieces.
Shoutout who you think deserves some recognition! What are some people worth admiration in your book?
These are some artists here with insanely beautiful styles, highly recommend everyone checks them out!
