Colors Gallery, meet erikawaiii

@erikawaiii is young and multitalented! She is an aspiring artist and is also learning multiple languages! Let's get to know them and their painterly kawaii art!

Let's learn about you! What would you like to share about yourself?

"I have all my info about me in my profile but, hi! I’m Érika but in Colors/social media I prefer Eri or Erii. I'm a very young artist (13 years old) from Spain that likes painting, drawing and cats, I LOVE cats! I think that in my class I’m the only person that likes drawing and those things so I feel so special!"

What are your interest and inspirations? What shaped you as a artist?

"I think that what inspires me the most are movies, series, books, other artists but music motivates me a lot to create original characters and their story, like Anya (elf girl with purple hair) and Ginny (green alien girl)."

"I started painting when I was so little and my drawings were literally potatoes with arms, legs and face. Since I “learned” how to draw and paint I think that I drew a lot every day and I guess that I improved so much. I still remember when my friends asked me “¿why do you draw so well?” and I didn’t know what to answer them, but now I know. When I was little, every summer morning I stayed at my grandparents’ house, so I guess that they taught me how to draw too. And I know that my art isn’t perfect, so if you have any advice or something don’t be afraid to tell me!"

How did you discover Colors? What made you join the community? Any features you would like to see in the future?

"4 years ago my parents bought me a Nintendo Switch and since then I check every day I can the Nintendo Switch News (I feel so stupid saying this) and 2 years ago I saw a news about art games and the one that I thought it was the most interesting was Colors so I asked my parents to get it for Christmas and now you see where I am! When I got it I got support immediately, people were so nice and friendly, so I joined the community so happy!"

"Every time I enter your tag I see a lot of great ideas but I would love to see new brushes, like more texture brushes (I just love them!) or custom canvas size!"

Your style is quite interesting! It's sketchy, a bit painterly, and vibrant! What's your process? What are your go-to tools? Do you use any software/ mediums outside of Colors Live?

"I don’t have any special process, I just make a messy sketch, then I make a sketchy line art and I colour it, I add shadows and lights, sometimes with transparency block I change the line art colour and the last thing, my favourite part, yellow lights!""

"My main brush is classic hard, but I use big bristle, classic bristle, select fill tool and classic eraser too."

"Yes! I draw on my tablet (it has like 8 years but whatever) and I use “Sketchbook”, maybe it’s a little bit difficult to draw at first but it’s a good software. I draw on my school laptop too with “Chrome Canvas”, I don’t really like it because there are just five brushes but I guess that is good too."

Colors art you're most proud of and Colors art you would like to redo?

The ones I'm most proud of:
Water Colored

Happier Than Ever ★

Sour ♡

Taylor Swift The Eras Tour Movie ☆

The drawing I want to redo.
Alice In Wonderland♥

I would like to redo all of my old drawings because right now I don’t really like them, don’t get me wrong but my art style changed a lot and I feel that they don’t look very good. But if I have to choose one I would choose the Alice in Wonderland one.

You're multilingual! That's awesome! How long did it take you to learn multiple languages? How is french going? What made you want to learn them?

"I’m from and I live in Spain, so my first language is Spanish. My mom is an English teacher, so since I was little she taught me with songs and a lot of things. And I started learning French 3 years ago at school and I really like it! I learned them because it’s mandatory in my school but if it wasn’t mandatory I think that I would learn them in apps like Duolingo or videos."

Any advice you want to give to beginners and artist of all skill levels?

"It’s okay to have an art block or don’t know what to do with your style or don’t know how to draw/paint something, don’t worry, even the best artists in the world suffer from this! There are lots of videos, tutorials and references that you can use to solve it, but if that doesn’t work just take a break, maybe that’s the problem, you’re stressed or you don’t feel good, if that happens I recommend you to listen to your favourite music artists, they’ll be your best therapist! I’m not professional and maybe this doesn't work with you, but that’s what helps me to escape reality and stay calm. ♡"

I love your entry for #wc529 ! How was your Thanksgiving?

"Thank you! But as I said before I’m from Spain and here we don’t celebrate Thanksgiving, but this year I’m so grateful for a lot of things!"

Plans and ambitions for the future?

"Be an illustrator, that’s all I want. And if I can, go to fairs and sell my art, write a book about my little girls (Anya and Ginny) and enjoy my life!"

Before we wrap up... What's a random fact about yourself that you have rarely have told anyone that you're comfortable with?

"This question is so difficult, but when I was little I had a lot of toys and every toy had to have their accessories, because if they didn’t have it I got angry and started to cry. I had a lot of Monster High dolls and I NEVER changed their clothes. And I remember that I had a lot of Pinypons (I don’t know if they were just in Spain) and this dolls had a lot of mini accessories to put in their hair, in their hands and you could take out their hair, their head, their upper body and their legs to switch them with other dolls."

"My parents always told me that if I changed any part of them when I stopped playing I put them again in the same place and I literally still remember where the pieces go. I don't know if I’m the only person that made that with her dolls or not."

Discord question from @razrdraws: In a lot of your art, you get into a style in which the brush-like textures shine, it seems.

My question is: How would you approach incorporating texture into your digital works, and how do you progress a piece using them?

"That's a great question but I don't have any special process to apply that texture, I just put it on when I'm going to finish the drawing because I think it looks better."

"I like to use vibrant colours to make that effect because it makes my art style look unique! You can see that in my art I sometimes do that with the person that I'm drawing, with a light yellow to apply a light effect, or with the background, to focus the view of the person who is looking at it on what I want to be the centre of attention, in this case the person I have drawn."

"Hope I answered well to your question!"

Anyone you want to shout-out?

@-CL0WN-, @Yotsubakoi, @Ssimply-sparkly and @armag, amazing and friendly artists! ♡
