@Teallicht is known for having a beautiful painterly style filled with exceptional colors and lighting! Now it's time for them to tell us about themselves!
Tell us about yourself, Teallicht! What should we know about you?
"Hi, I'm Teallicht! My real name is Julia but people can also just call me Teal. I'm a hobby artist and have loved drawing for as long as I can remember. Around 2011, when I was about 12 years old, I started to try and improve my drawing skills and since then art has been an important part of my life."
Your painterly style is so beautiful! What are your inspirations? Looking back at your oldest Colors artwork you've made quite the jump in skill. How did you achieve this?
"Thank you! My inspirations are constantly changing. Growing up, they were mostly Anime I watched on TV like Pokémon, Inu Yasha, Detective Conan and Pretty Cure, but nowadays I get inspired by all the great artists I see on the internet!"
"I believe I started posting on Colors in 2012, so shortly after I started taking drawing more seriously."
"My drawings from then are honestly a little embarrassing to look at, but they're also a great way for me to see how much I've improved over the years."
"I think what helped me the most to improve was just drawing a lot and having fun doing so. That coupled with watching a ton of tutorial videos on YouTube and doing an occasional figure drawing here and there was and still is my main way of getting better at creating art."

How did you discover Colors Live? What keeps you motivated and posting? What do you like best about the community?
"If I remember correctly, I randomly saw it on the 3ds eShop (RIP) and needed to get it! I immediately went to my father and begged him to buy it for me. Thankfully he got it for me haha."
"Two of the reasons as to why I'm still posting after all these years are because I love having a portable way of creating digital art and because the community is absolutely wonderful!"
"It's filled with so many kind and skilled artists and it almost feels like home to me. I love it when I browse through the newly posted paintings and randomly see art from an artist I recognise!"
Is Colors Live your main way of making art? If not, how does Colors compliment your style and what other software/mediums do you use? Are there some features in Colors Live that you'd really like to see in the future?
"I have phases where I almost exclusively create art with Colors but then there are also times when I'm more often using my drawing tablet to draw in Krita."
"I also tend to draw doodles and sketches with Colors and more elaborate art works with Krita. When I'm not drawing I also like to do embroidery, resin art and little sculptures! I like collecting different ways to create art haha."
"As for features I'd like to see, I'm not really sure. I think I just got so used to the tools that are already available that I can't really think of any I'd want. But I'm definitely excited to see the effects layers that are planned!""
Favorite artist on Colors & off?
"Oh that's a hard question, there are way too many! A few artists on YouTube that I like and that have helped me to improve with their videos are Sinix Design, Marco Bucci and Mateusz Urbanowicz."
"And after checking who I'm following on other sites there are also rt0no, mochipanko and Jun Kumaori that create beautiful art."
"I'm probably missing many other amazing artists that I like though..."
Colors art you're most proud & fond of?
"Probably that one painting where some of my OCs are just hanging out and that is fittingly called 'hanging out' (I'm not very creative at naming my paintings)."
"It's not perfect but I had so much fun making it, and although I rarely do I absolutely love drawing my fish OC Hubert!"
"I even made a little figurine of him out of polymer clay that is currently sitting on my desk!"
Top 3 favorite Colors artworks?
Another very hard question! After looking at what feels like a million amazing artworks and taking ages to decide I've picked:

What motivates you? Do you have any advice for beginners?
"It can get very overwhelming and discouraging being bombarded by amazing art online so I feel like it's very important to not let that stop you from creating art."
"Either try to make it an inspiration for you to improve your skills or, if that doesn't work, take a break from looking at other people's art online."
"And most importantly: have fun! Draw what makes you happy or in a way that you enjoy. Don't start a drawing and already plan on posting it online for others to see. You don't have to share every drawing you create! At least in my case, I otherwise overthink and get anxious when drawing. And that's why I end up posting only about 2/3 of my art."

What's your creative process? What are you go-to tools & techniques in Colors Live?
"That's a good question because I'm not really sure how to describe my creative process. I try to think as little as possible when I'm drawing."
"It's important to me that the shapes I draw and the colors I use are pleasing to look at, but I'm basically on auto-pilot when I draw and decide what looks right."
"Most of the time I don't even know what I will end up drawing, and the finished piece is a surprise to me!"
"The only times I can't really do that is when I'm creating fanart or drawing my OCs. I guess in that case I start with a rough sketch to see if the composition looks alright."
"When choosing colors, I go by what looks good to me without following any specific rules. But I try to use a somewhat limited color palette and mix existing colors to create new ones. I feel like that way the overall painting ends up looking more cohesive."

Do you have any goals for the near or far future?
"Hopefully I'll improve further! Anytime I look at my current paintings I see things I could've done better and areas I can improve in."
What's an interesting fact about you or a interest you have that hardly anyone knows that you're willing to share?
"Hmm, there's nothing super interesting about me but one of my interests is tea! And although it's just a coincidence, I think that fits perfectly with my username 'teallicht' haha. And on a side note, that name is a combination of 'teal', which used to be my favorite color, and 'licht', the German word for 'light'."
What's the fastest way to improve in your opinion artwise and in any skill someone wants to learn in general?
"In my opinion, one of the most important things is being passionate about that skill. Most likely, you will need to practice that skill many times before you'll see an improvement and it's way easier to do something repeatedly if you're passionate about it and enjoy doing it."
"Asking others for feedback is helpful as well!"
And a general art advice I have: use references!! It's not cheating!
"It's important to look at real life and to practice drawing from it even if you don't plan on ever having a realistic art style."
"Anytime you struggle with drawing something, look up reference images!"
Discord question from @razrdraws:Heyo! Imma be straight I completely forgot to ask a question on time, forgive me! Haha! So here are my belated questions:
1) What are your thoughts on color theory? Do you use it? How are your colors picked?
2) I know you love drawing hair, but what are your thoughts/your process of drawing hair?
No worries! at least I'm still here to answer them!
"1) I can't say I actively think about color theory each time I draw, but I've tried to at least learn the basics and use them mostly subconsciously now. I also love to experiment with colors and after a while you automatically remember which colors go well together and which ones don't."
"2) I honestly just use hair as an excuse to doodle flowy shapes... When I draw it I don't really think about hair and more so about how the shapes look in the overall painting. That's probably why the hair I draw often looks like it's defying gravity or something haha. I have a similar approach to clothes/fabric now that I think about it."
