@Milotheonlu or Milo for short is here to say hello as our 67th artist of the week! They began their digital art journey equipped with their thumb, talent and extreme passion for creating awesome art full of charming characters! Sorry for the delay, everyone! Now let's get to know Milo!
Hello @Milotheonlu Tell us about yourself! What's your story?
"Hiii everyone, the names Milo but my close friends like to call me Torri, and I've been a digital artist for about 5 years. I wouldn't exactly say I have a story since I wasn't very found of my childhood, but I mostly found my comfort zone by playing video games and drawing my own characters which led me up to here, I'm also a huge cat lover and I have 2 at the moment but that's all I can think of to say for my introduction. I hope everyone that's reading this interview likes it, I was pretty nervous during it."

How did you begin your journey into the world of the arts? What would you say are your biggest influences and inspirations?
"I began art back when I was about 5-6, not exactly sure which exact age it was but it was around that time. I actually didn't draw that much, but then I was really influenced by a show called Steven Universe, and ever since it came out and I started to watch it, I began to focus more on my art, the show inspired me so much and I always had a dream of meeting the creator of it. I was also really inspired by the movie 'The little mermaid' that's the earliest movie I can remember watching, Ariel is my favorite character still, and a lot of anime has really inspired me since I adored the art styles."

When and how did you discover the Colors Gallery? What made you decide to join our humble community and what is your favorite thing about it?
"I actually had the game saved in my cart a while back, maybe a year ago? And forgot about it ever since. Then a few months ago I had gotten money but didn't know what to buy with it so I went through my wish list and found colors live so I bought i tried out the demo then got the full game. I actually never knew about the colors community back then so I was a brand new user coming here. I guess I could say my favorite thing about this community is how welcoming it is to new users, and all the cool artists here that I have met over these past few months."

Do you draw with any other tools or mediums? Are there any new tools you'd want to see in Colors Live at some point?
"I really only draw on 2 other places, Ibis paint and just on paper. I'd love a clipping layer to be added along with a filter option (example: dot filter, square filter, etc.) Those would be really nice to see here, and I bet everyone would be super grateful if it does get added."
What Colors art of yours are you the most proud of and why?
late ride with pookie by Milotheonlu
"I'm mostly proud of this drawing I made, I'm not really that person to explain about how much I love something but I guess I can say that I'm really proud of my progress that I've been doing over these past few years, and I do plan on drawing vehicles more in the future, I really liked how it came out."

Who's the artist both on and off Colors that you admire most?
"An artist I really admire off of colors is @Playfullysilly on twitter, that's where I learned my way of coloring from they're always gonna be my #1 favorite artist, check them out if you haven't. And for a artist that I admire here the most is @REPOMAN he was the first artist I followed here and I made sure of it, when I was on the demo I was always admiring the way he drawn and when I got to know him more he's actually really chill, you should check him out too if you didn't."

I think one of the most striking things about your art is how you do use bold colors and your confident lineart! How did you develop such a style? What's your process and what tips would you give others about creating an identity with their art?
"You know I'm really glad my way of coloring gets noticed that really makes me happy, especially since how a year back I always used to feel as if the way I colored was 'plain' or 'dull', and whenever I tried my hardest to not make it look so boring I would always end up being disappointed with myself. Though I didn't give up, the more you keep trying the faster the progress will come. If you're curious as to how I managed to learn my way of getting where I am you could say that I really pressured myself. I also felt as if watching tutorials won't help that I could do it all by myself due to my ego, so I barely watched any, if I ever watch a tutorial it's probably ways on how I can make my art more expressive that's all, other than that I really just taught myself how to do all of this. But I also managed to develop my art style with the help of someone who I really appreciate. I have always looked up to them since 4th grade and ever since then they've always been my biggest inspiration, always teaching me how to draw, I couldn't have gotten here without them really. I also was really inspired by cartoons which helped my art style, and I had a passion to become an animator one day just like them, I still do. I was really thankful that they didn't judge my art but gave me ways I can improve so to all reading this that isn't pleased with their art style you got this, all you need to do is keep pushing forward, get out your comfort zone and explore other art styles, don't just start to restrict yourself just because you feel as if other ways may not help you, give it a shot."

Your #Milotheonludtyis had some fantastic entries! How did you come up with your characters? Is there some interesting lore about these characters we should know about?
"I actually didn't expect my DTIYS to get popular, and all the submissions were so cute it was hard only picking 3 winners so I even extended it to 5, me and hero really liked them and appreciated all that joined, thank you to those. I only own one character in that drawing and it's the one on the right, Milo, the other belongs to my friend hero. It's sort of hard explaining how I made her specifically, so I'll put it like this. Back in the beginning of 2023 I had just gotten a tablet that I could draw on, and I was really inspired by a lot of artists on twitter I found while trying to look for inspiration. My biggest inspiration was an artist by the user of @Playfullysilly, if you looked them up I think you'd get the idea on how I made Milo. I also developed her from playing games with my friends that allowed me to create my own avatar, and I got inspiration off of there too which ended up in her design. I'm not going too into the lore since I'm actually still working on it to this day but it does take place during an apocalypse. I plan on making a comic very soon about my ocs if anyone will be interested."

Is it true that you draw with your thumb? How did you become so good at it if it is true? Do you prefer it to using any tools like a stylus or paint brush?
"Yep, I do draw with a thumb and usually whenever I tell anyone that they're kind of surprised, I don't really find it shocking maybe cause I'm used to it? Or maybe because I've met many other artists that use their thumb? But yeah, I do. I actually started digital art back in 2019 where I only used a phone and my finger, ever since then I've always done that till I got a tablet, I even drew a few times on a chromebook screen which is kind of difficult in my opinion. And Honestly, I wouldn't want a stylus. Yes I can draw on paper exactly the same as I do on a digital stylus would be no problem but I feel as if drawing with my finger is more comfortable, especially since I've been doing it for years. My point is I'd prefer to use a thumb so that others can see the potential I have with my art, to be impressed by my skill, if I use a stylus it'd sort of be predictable in some way if you get what I mean."

What plans do you have for the future?
"My plans for the future? Well, I'm not exactly so sure about them, but I do hope I can become an amazing animator and pursue my dreams, I really just want to get somewhere big with it, you know?"
Do you have any guilty pleasures?
"I suppose my guilty pleasure is drawing my favorite oc constantly, I really really love to draw her and if I could post her and only her I definitely would, but I feel as if people would start finding me super boring and call me 'unoriginal'. I try to balance it out with other characters I have, maybe even someone else's. Sorry if I understood this question."

What advice would you give other artists or anyone new joining the Colors Gallery?
"Advice I'd give to new color users is to please, be confident. It's fine if you're only a beginner still learning through-out your journey, don't be shy either, asking for criticism is super helpful, I recommend it. Doesn't matter how much more advanced other people are in art we have our own paces so take your time and keep pushing yourself to where you wanna get at."

Do you have a greatest fear that you're willing to share?
"This is embarrassing to admit since I'm way older now, but ever since a nightmare I had back when I was little always made me terrified of the dark, not of the dark but what's inside of it so I usually get really paranoid if I'm ever left alone where I can't see. No matter any of my fears, the dark is the biggest one to me."
Who do you want to shout out and give the spotlight next?
"My biggest shoutout goes to @Herosuga the one that's been with me since day one LOVE U HERO and thank you all for reading my interview."
