A roblox enthusiast in pursuit of their passions, @JohnDoeingIt constantly works to square away at their many goals and ambitions. Now comes the time for us to square away this interview and get to know their story!
@JohnDoeingIt it's time to Do this interview! Tell us about yourself! What is your backstory?
Well I'm just a young artist who kinda just pursues my passion for creating art for my favorite franchises and such, and I've been doing art for around 11 years now!!

It's seems to be no secret that you're a bit of a roblox fanatic! But if I had to take a wild guess than there's quite a few other franchise that inspire you as well? If I'm correct, what are they? How did they influence your art and what made you start your art journey to begin with?
There are a few oher franchises I like outside of roblox!! I like a lot of anime and stuff, which was kind of the whole starter as to why I started drawing in the first place, and I guess as I've progressed as an artist I discovered Roblox and it sort of shifted the way I create my art. But I do have to think my earlier interests into getting me into art to begin with.

You've got quite a cool, quirky style! So I'm curious, what's your process? When making art, roblox inspired or not, what goes through your mind when sketching, designing a character, applying lineart, coloring, and all else that goes into illustration?
I think determining the vibe of a drawing I want to make is the first thing that goes through my mind when I create stuff. Once I get down what kind of feeling I want my stuff to come across, then I just make a pose and start on coloring,, its pretty simple for me.

So how'd you end up on the cozy little community known as Colors Live? What made you decide to stick around? What do you like most about our humble app and gallery?
I got the game as a gift from a friend who didn't really use it. I think I decided to stick around because all the interactions I've gotten on here have been relatively kind and I've met really cool people on here who share my interests!! I think I like seeing how other people create and all that the most since they're sharing their passions.
Do you use any other software or mediums? Or is Colors Live your first step into the digital art world?
I actually don't have any other online art programs or anything!! This is my first experience in digital art compelely, I used to only do trad art until I was gifted the game.
Who're your favorite artist on and off Colors Live? What about them inspires you?
I don't really have a favorite artist to be honest,, but I did first start art cause of Akira Toriyama since I used to be obsessed with Dragon Ball, so I think he was a big inspiration for me to get into art to begin with as well.
Top 3 favorite paintings in the entire Colors Gallery?
I don't know about this one it's hard to choose so I'm not really sure haha
Which art of yours are you the most proud of? What about them has a special place in your heart?
For my three favorite arts I've created , I think they're my favorites because they're when I really started to step outside of my comfort zone and try to create better stuff than I had before. Especially with experimentation with larger paintings and finer details.

So how'd you get into Roblox? How did you fall in love with it? And if you could create your own game within it or just a game period, what would you make?
Okay, this one is a really long story. I first discovered Roblox in like 2015 because of a few youtubers I watched at the time, but I didn't really make an account until a while later since I still wasn't sure about it.
However, I did get really interested in the myth community around 2016 which is when I discovered Noli specifically and what drove me to actually create an account like 2 years later. I think if I had the ability to make my own game, though, I would make something about Noli and my rendition of him since he's the whole reason I really got into Roblox and why I stuck around and developed my longest lasting interest.

What's next on the agenda? Are there any plans for the future you want to accomplish?
Honestly, there's nothing too big I want to accomplish. Maybe just experimenting with more fluidity in my drawings and potentially spreading my art to a larger audience of people once I think I'm good enough for that.
Advice for the up-&-comers? What's some solid knowledge that's been useful for you not only as an artist but in other aspects of life too?
My biggest piece of advice would be to not compare yourself to other artists, especially if you're just starting out. I've seen a lot of people who compare themselves to bigger artists and lose interest in the hobby and drawing in general because they believe they won't ever be as good as the people they look up to.
I think everyone can reach the status of who they aspire to create like, even if it starts out bad!! Practice makes perfect and it maybe won't look good at the start, but if you keep working towards that goal I promise everyone that you'll be able to create amazing arts that you aspired to.

How do you "Robloxify" your art so well? What's your secret?
Honesty I think it's relatively easy!! I think the most important part is to retain some blockiness with your art, even if it's just a little.
If you can't do that, I think using classic accessories you can find on the Roblox catalog in your OCs and such will help retain the recognizability that you're trying to create art for the platform.

When in an artist slump, what gives you the right bump to get reenergized and back on the art grind?
Whenever I have art block or anything, I normally just start making small doodles to try and get myself back into creating art. I also look at some avatars or whatnot of some of the people known on Roblox, like mods, hackers, and admins, even myths to try and come up with something I might want to draw.

Grindset or mindset? What's more crucial for success?
I think a positive mindset is a lot more important than trying to produce as much art as you can in a short period of time. In personal experience, I've noticed my art gets a lot better when I feel positive as opposed to me just trying to create content to put out. I think that is also a big factor of burn-out. So definitely mindset over grindset.
