@Heroine-of-Winds is a self-taught artist, consistent, and quite heroic! They are a huge Wind Waker fan and bring a variety of charming and vibrant Zelda themed artworks to our humble community! Make like the wind and let's all breeze through this interview!
Who is the heroine of winds? What can you tell you about your adventures?
"As for who is Heroine-of-Winds, I got my username from, you guessed it, The Wind Waker. Toon Link has always been a favorite character of mine, and his title in the game is "Hero of Winds", so that's where it came from haha!"
"As for adventures, I started playing Zelda when I was around 12 or so. My sister had gotten Majora's Mask a couple years prior to that, and it was the first Zelda game we ever played. I've been a fan since!"
Not Cool, Man... by Heroine-of-Winds
What inspires you and your art? I don't know, but I have a hunch that you're a big Zelda fan! Is Wind Waker your favorite game? What else inspires and motivates you?
"What inspires me...Many different things do, but it's mainly other artists and whenever I have an idea that I have to draw."
"And yes, I am a huge Zelda fan, and will always love it! Wind Waker is definitely my favorite, though. I was absolutely ecstatic when I got it, as I'd been wanting to play it for years. It was just as amazing as I'd hoped it'd be- the beautiful music and graphics, gameplay, and characters were out of this world. Ah no, I'm rambling again--"

How did you come across colors live? What made you settle into the community? Are there any features you want to see in the future?
"Anyhow, my sister and I came across Colors a few years ago on our DS's. We never visited the gallery though, as we were too young, and didn't know anything about it. Recently we both got Colors Live, and we were amazed at the upgrades from Colors 3D."
"I was very nervous when I joined the community, but the amazing people I've met have really made me feel welcome. I still remember my first like on a painting, there's nothing quite like it."
"A feature I'd love to see in the future is more brushes, especially a blending one."
Your Wind Waker fanart is an amazing use of reference! I'm extremely impressed! What was your process? What's your process in general when it comes to art? What are your typical mediums/go-to tools?
"Wow, thank you very much! That really means a lot I've learned so many techniques for drawing since I joined Colors. When I first started out, I went straight in with the line art, (ack) rather than sketching out a rough base beforehand. However, my process now is I always start out with a rough sketch, and go from there. And references! I recommend always using them if you can, they help immensely."
"When it comes to traditional art, I usually use lead pencils and paper. However, if I'm coloring it I like to use colored pencils and markers (make sure to use good quality ones, it'll look better)."
Home on Outset by Heroine-of-Winds
Colors art you're most proud of? What makes you proud of it?
"As for art I'm most proud of, I'd say "Oh! A cucco!", "Home on Outset", "Calvin and Hobbes", and "Happy Halloween". The first one because it was from that painting that I started developing my art style, Outset because, although I didn't like it too much at first, I do like it more now. I learned a lot from these particular paintings."

Top 3 favorite Colors artworks(from other artists)?
Ah, it's so hard to choose just three, but.. "We don't talk abt Bruno, no-no-no" by the incredible @PineappleChan_, "Poor-Rok" by the wonderful @WindWaker, and "Poker's Time" by the legendary @nanyalan-.

What's your favorite thing about The Legend of Zelda? If you could choose 1-3 of any of the equipment or abilities in the Zelda games what would you choose?
"My favorite things about TLoZ is probably the music, characters, dungeons/temples, and the items."
"Haha, I'd definitely pick the Hookshot for one of the items. And maybe a mask or two from MM and of course the Wind Waker baton."
You are about to receive the Tri-force! What side of it would you get based on what you know about yourself? Which would you choose if you had a choice otherwise?
"As for the Triforce.. hmm... I'm not courageous at all haha, or powerful, so I suppose wisdom. If I could choose, it'd either be Courage or Wisdom."
Come at me! by Heroine-of-Winds
You have control of the Zelda franchise and you have to give a reason as to why doesn't Link talk(or at least we never hear him talk)! What would it be?
"A reason for why he doesn't talk... Well, I did read that the reason the creators of TLoZ didn't give him a voice is because he was the "link" between the players and characters, and wanted them to feel a connection to the in-game characters. In BOTW, it does go a bit more in depth and say that he didn't want to be a burden, and felt like he had to keep silent to preserve the appearance he had. Which is a bit sad, but I suppose I agree with those reasons (I'm rambling again, sorry)..."
Birds-eye-view vs 3d Zelda?
"Ohh, definitely 3d! The first time I played a Zelda with a birdseye's view, it took me awhile to get used to it, and I felt more vulnerable, because enemies could sneak up easier that way, or so it seems."
Goals and ambitions for the future?
"Goals I have are to grow as artist, and develop better techniques."
Favorite artist on and off Colors? How do they influence you?
"Ah, it's difficult to choose a favorite artist, as there are several, but @PineappleChan's art has really inspired me to become a better artist and try new styles and techniques. Her artwork is phenomenal."
Pass the Gift ! :D by PineappleChan_
Advice for artist or in life overall?
"As for advice... Well, for art anyway, never give up, no matter how hopeless and dejected you may be. And I know it's hard not to, but try not to compare your art to other's, because even if you think you'll never be as good as them, with time and practice, you will! And keep in mind they may have been drawing for a lot longer, therefore having more practice."
"I know I've said this before, but use references if you can. Sketching out a rough draft of your painting definitely helps. And the layers! They are amazing and greatly help once you figure out how to use them."
What do you do to overcome art block?
"For overcoming art block, I like to take a long break, and switch to doing traditional art if I can't do digital, and vice versa. And just doodling and drawing random, simple things is helpful as well."
