Your username makes me hungry! Tell us about yourself! Who is CheezyRiceCakes?

"CheezyRiceCakes? CheezyRiceCakes was a username I came up when I was 15 or so, since I liked naming things after food I went with a combo of foods I liked! Despite being older I still have fond memories of it so I kept it/go by Cheez in other places."

What's the recipe for your delicious art? It's so sleek and refined! What's your process and what are your inspirations?

"I always preferred drawing with mechanical pencils/fine point markers traditionally on paper, so I went with very thin line art for my process!! As for my inspirations, I was very inspired by a lot of different anime and manga as a kid and would try to emulate that style. Mainly Tite Kubo or a character designer like HUKE."

How did you come across Colors? What made you post up here? Are there any features you'd like to see in the future?

"Are there any features you'd like to see in the future? Like many others I had a 3ds as I grew up! I got it on the eshop mainly cause I was so happy seeing that I had a way to draw digitally finally, since I had no tablet at the time. As for features, I'm mainly a 3ds user so I like the features it comes with already!"

Is Colors your main art tool? What other software and mediums do you use? How do they compliment eachother?

"I've been using Colors for many years now, so I tend to use it as my main drawing software since I'm so used to it. But thanks to it I now have switched to drawing digitally on other programs!! Such as Procreate and CSP on my iPad."

Colors art you're most proud of?

Currently my pinned/featured art on my profile icon, im very happy with the progress I have made over the years.

Favorite artist off and on Colors?

"Favorite artist on Colors is absolutely @Panfa! They were an inspo of mine when I started using my account more often, and they always left very sweet comments on my art previously! They've been posting since 2014 I believe and it was very nice to see their growth over time. As for off site, I'm a big fan of @kiririn51 pieces on Twitter! Mainly their artwork on their indie game projects shine alot and stand out."

What advice can you give about doing commissions and art trades? What makes you decide to take some and not others?

"For a very long time, I've held off on doing either cause of anxiety, but overtime I realized that I can improve by taking other's requests and drawing outside my comfort zone! Although that doesnt mean you shouldnt draw something that gives you too much of a hard time, layout your strengths first, and go from there!"

I love a lot of the characters that you've drawn! Do any of them have a story? How did you come up with them?

"I'm very character driven when it comes to starting pieces so I appreciate it alot! Many of them are iterations of my older characters I made as a kid, and slowly drawing them over the years until I felt happy with how I portrayed them. Most of them are from a game called Final Fantasy XIV, which gives your character a pre-established story but I do deviate sometimes! I came up with them through the game's own character creator, and implementing a mix of older aspects from my old characters."

I'm guessing cheesy rice cakes are your favorite snack?

"I do like many ricecakes and rice based snacks! Havent tried any of them with cheese yet but it'd feel fun to try it eventually to honor the namesake!"

What advice would you give to young artists or just in general?

"Always, always, use references!! Especially if you're a visual learner I found the best way to start out/continue on is to reference from any works you like! Also, using bases is very helpful! I still use them myself so its something you can use for years honestly, a sketch will always look sloppy and thats okay!"

Have any goals and ambitions for the future?

"With how things are turning out, I do want to start using my other programs in my posession and slowly adjust to them like how I did with Colors all those years ago. Learning those new programs, and mastering them is my main goal right now!"

Do you ever experience burnout? How do you combat it?

"Many times, I''ve been doing mostly commissions now so I do have to tackle alot of new pieces, but breaks I feel are just as important, infact I feel like I draw better after taking a break instead of going piece by piece! You will see inprovement if you draw daily yes, but if you ever feel like you hit a wall please take a break!!"

What's a type of art that interest you but you have yet to try or pull off successfully?

"Landscapes are something I've always been awed by but was never too experienced with myself! I love any piece that shows a landscape of abandoned cities or that uses fantasy elements."

Anyone you want to shout-out?

"I'd like to shoutout to user @Saisame who has been very nice to me in recent artwork! I love how they color their pieces, and their artstyle is very pretty! While there is a language barrier that didn't stop them from interacting with me, and I appreciate that alot!"
