@BHPineapple is known for their cute, vibrant style, love of the fruit that is also the home of a famous sponge, and their fondness for relaxing games such as Animal Crossing and Stardew Valley! Let's all make ourselves cozy and learn more about them!
Who're you? What are the origins of the pineapple? When did you start arting and what initially inspired you?
"I’m just a girl that likes pineapples ?! My brother helped me come up with my Username, because he said pineapples were always my thing. I always liked to collect things and decorations that are pineapple themed (I even had a pineapple/tropical theme for my birthday!)"
"I have always been drawing for as long as I can remember! My sister was my biggest inspiration. When I was younger, I looked up to her and would copy her a lot. One day, she was watching a tutorial from “Mark Crilley” on Youtube, learning how to draw some anime characters. I was learning how to draw with my sister and one day she got out of it and was interested in other hobbies. Except for me, I never stopped because it was something I became passionate about. So, I kept going!"
How did you develop such a cute & vibrant art style? What are your inspirations(I take it you're a big animal crossing & pokemon fan)? What's your opinion on artstyle growth and discovering your style/creating the style you want?
"I tested a lot of different styles and techniques. I love drawing the lineart weight and coloring the lineart as well. I like to use a lot of shading and brightness for the colors, to make it pop out because it grabs more attention to detail. I practiced a lot with color theory and what colors look best with others."
"For example, for red/pink I use purple shading and lower the opacity. Same with green which is blue shading, yellow which is orange shading, and etc."
"I watched a lot of speedpaints and tutorials that have taught me about anatomy. What has helped me was to memorize the simple forms you have learned and break down the shapes to build your own art structure. I never took any art classes, these are just things that I picked up from. There are a lot of art terms that I still need to learn haha."
"I believe I recently found my artstyle definitely overtime, which later became my favorite. It is always fun to experiment and try new designs. There is always something new and always ways for improvement. I got a lot of inspiration from speedpaints and Nintendo fanart from artists online."
I'm assuming you like cozy, slower paced games (Stardew Valley, Animal Crossing etc). Are those the only types of games you play or do you like other types as well? What are your favorite genres?
"Yes, my favorite has always been farming and simulator games! But I also like a ton of other games too that aren't as slow paced. I do enjoy playing action and adventure games like Fallout 4, Skyrim, Destiny 2, and etc. on the Xbox one platform. I also love to play MarioKart and Fall Guys on the switch. Me and my brother are gamers!"
How did you discover Colors Live? What's your opinion on the community? Anything feature or gallery wise you'd like to see?
"I bought 3D Colors back years ago from the Eshop store. I didn’t post any paintings back then but I did use the program a lot."
"I think it’s so inspiring that a lot of artists in this community come together to post their art and encourage one another. The Colors community is really loving and supportive of each other and makes you feel cozy. After the remix feature update, I’ve seen a lot more artists doing collabs together which is so fun and nice to get more people involved with the community."
"A feature I would love to see is if you can customize your own brush. On Procreate, I see people customize different pens/brushes to different shapes and patterns. So when you make a stroke, it would come up multiple times with the design. For example, an artist was drawing with a custom brush that had a hair braid design and made strokes, it drew the girl’s braids on the painting ! Same with if you wanted to make a pattern for clothes, use the custom brush to draw the patterns instead of drawing it one by one. I believe it would help make things more symmetrical."
Do you use any other artistic mediums or software? How does Colors compliment your workflow? Or is Colors Live the main way you create digital art?
"My main art program is SketchBook and I would draw mostly on my phone and on my laptop. But when I received the Colors Live early this year, I hadn't touched the other art programs. I found Colors Live really easy to use and I became more comfortable with it. It is also the first art community I have joined and I love the community!"
Do you have any artistic plans or goals in general?
"I was thinking of making a YouTube account and possibly posting Youtube Shorts of my own speedpaints !"
What's an interesting fact about you that not much people know(that you are willing to share of course!)?
"I love to go to parks and go hiking with my family. I have a speech impediment but you can’t tell through my texts lol. I love playing basketball and playing the violin. I do admire Japanese culture and am slowly learning how to speak it just for fun! I have also been to four countries and one day my sister is planning to visit Japan and she said she would bring me with her!"

Have any nuggets(or fruits) of wisdom for a beginner artist? What's something you wish you knew early on?
"I believe anyone can become a great artist. Anyone can learn if they put time and effort into it. If it’s something you are very serious about and want to improve, I encourage you to practice daily! I wish I studied and looked at references a lot back then and have experimented more."
"But also, have fun with it! Drawing is supposed to be fun so don’t be too hard on yourself. There was a point where I would push too hard and was frustrated that it became not so enjoyable for me. And because of that, I lost my desire with art over a year. But soon overtime my passion for art slowly came back and I drew what made me happy."

Now for the most important question of them all ... Do you like pineapples on pizza? I don't hate it but I prefer other toppings myself.
"The big reveal from this whole entire interview… I do love pineapples on pizza ! ??"
You're stranded on an island with the option to bring only 3 things with you. What do you bring?
Water, my blanket, and my fav snacks. Realistically a helicopter, a pilot, and gas so I could leave the island sounds more smart though…(You probably thought I was going to say pineapples weren’t you?? )
Favorite Colors Artist & Non-Colors Artist ? How do they inspire you?
"So many of them!! I would say who has inspired me the most on Colors Live is @SaltineCracker !"
"SaltineCracker because I love her kawaii art style so much and her cutesy Nintendo fanart ! It looks really professional and I love how the art style just pops! She is really good at shading and the colors really compliment each other to create such a vibrant cute art style. I especially love how she does her background and how much she adds to detail!"

"Favorite NonColor artist is a YouTuber named “Emirichu”. I took a lot of inspiration from her to make my own shoujo art style! I also have a lot of fav Nintendo artists that I lost count on haha."
Anyone you want to shout-out? Friend or foe? Non-friend or non-foe?
"I want to thank my family that encourages, loves and supports me!"
