Animatronics
Animatronics...
You love them, you hate them, you love to hate them or hate to love them. There's no in-between.
I must admit I have a bad memory of these things from when I was a kid. I've gotten over it(mostly) but I can understand those that keep a healthy fear of them.
I think the main fear of these things people have is because of the uncanniness. The janky, jerky movements, the metal skeleton, imperfect mimicry of facial expressions, metal skeletons... Like some sort of experiment to blend cute cartoony animals with a robot but doesn't quite strike the balance where it needs to be so you get something imperfect and very creepy.
Still have to appreciate the effort that goes into their creation- from a respectable distance, that is.
