I've always wanted a snake for a pet... I've had a few iguanas and an anole, on top of the usual cats, dogs and birds, but never a snake. You're so lucky!
Infestaion: Well if Ontario has snakes you can actualy try to find one. Mines wild, well used to be. He's really friendly now! Or you can always go to a pet store, but I wouldn't get a snake that'll grow to eat you, like a Python. I sugest a Corn Snake they're very friendly, and don't get very big either. Though the snake I have is called a Ring Neck in my area, if I knew what they were really called I'd recomend one of those. But I don't think pet stores even have those snakes... I also have the usual pets aswell, a dog, cat, and three rabits. But I love my snake!
^ As long as you treat the snake with respect you won't be bit! I've handled many snakes, including a Rattle Snake. As long as they don't feel threated you're fine! Just don't go picking up wild ones unless you know what you're doing, otherwise things could go horribly wrong!

I want a snake, but I don't want to be bitten, settled for a fish and a colony of freshwater snails. Lucky dog!
