You don't need to use shading if you don't want to. If you think it needs some, you go right ahead. Just be original. try start your own style. one that can be told apart from other people's art. This is a really cool picture, by the way. ^_^

Here u could of put every character in their own 3D layer. For example: the yellow bone beetle could be in the 2nd front layer, the red beetle on the front layer, the guy on the middle layer, the small beetle on th last layer and the top right beetlee on the next to last layer. Use your imagination to see what is infront or behind. Again great job.

also your signature can be on the very front or where ever you want it to be. Rememver, use the layers

looks really well. i think its quite good. be sure to do a good background though. backgrounds tie the whole picture together. some would even say its the most important part. but i do like all the detail in this.

That's not my idea of the dark type pokemons, but maybe because I'm a girl. But the draw itself its really good (You asked me to judge it!)

It's difficult to judge a gallery of 2 paintings so I'll focus on this painting-
The artstyle is simple and sharp, very fitting with the theme.
The colours goes well together. The limited palette makes your painting easier to look at.
How you present the theme is interesting.
Some problems are:
The elements are confusing especially the bug over the character; I'm not sure what is what. The boot over the red bug makes it looks like he kicks the bug (sorry if it was intentional).
The direction your character points is confusing. When viewing, we may stay only scroll on the left side.
