The Gloomy Day by BillDaly
I love walking in the woods, even on a cloudy day.This is about 6 miles upstream from my covered bridge painting. I found this spot 5 years ago about a half-mile from my house. A visit here always refreshes. The water in the painting was inspired by a painting of a red boat by Lenchen - much thanks to this fellow 'Colors' artist. Thank you for each like - first time on 'This Weeks Best' - it's been so much fun!

Oh. :) My favourite time of year and how beautifully you have painted this. The river is just perfect. Gorgeous colours, the leaves on the ground are so well done.

I love the woods too. Every nook is one of a kind. One day, my friends and I happened upon this pristeen newborn forest of baby Birch trees, Lillies of the Valley, and bright green grass everywhere; it was the most beautiful sight in nature I'll probably ever see.

The detail in this is incredible! I can't believe there wasn't a photo reference! Did you sit there and do it or just paint it from your head?

I worked mostly from photos I took and loaded on a computer screen, but also visited the site often - and used my imagination as well! I erase alot too; if I think I have something drawn wrong, I erase and start again - UGH!
