Watch some underrated anime! ''Nausicaa of the Valley of the Winds'' is really cool, with tons of weird creature designs (love the baby beetle!) that may inspire you.
''Gankutsuou: The Count of Monte Cristo'' is a very strange and beautiful series, with some AMAZING art. Screenshots REALLY don't do it justice..! Maybe try drawing The Count in full demon form (purple smoke skin and all)?
''Escaflowne'' the movie is honestly EPIC (as in it's a grand tale full of twists and hopeless romance, massive battles and tragic misunderstandings) and the soundtrack never fails to inspire me.
Or you could draw some robots or something, I don't know. Good luck!
