The term "Dark Magician" refers to powerful practicioners of the dark arts of offensive magic. They have been a staple of spiritual duels between society's upper classes. Disputes and quarrels between the aristocracy would be solved through pitched combat between groups of up to sixty warriors who had pledged loyalty to their nobility. Likewise, much of the nobility themselves were warriors or magicians.
