Vday came from St. Valentine.
Heres how the story goes:
So one day the General of the military found that married men in battle were more homesick and not as useful as single men.
He banned married men from entering the Armed Forces.
St. Valentine, however, was against this, and secretly wed young couples for many years.
Once found of his actions, he was sentanced to death
On Feb 14th, he was decappitated. Later, he left a note to the jailman's daughter (who he fell in love with)
It was a love letter, and it was signed 'your valentine'
So..Thats why its about love
But were really celebrating the decapitation of some old guy
