Use the Internet. There are countless resources, but only study from the real masters. Try researching Riven Phoenix. He has a demo on his The Structure Of Man training series online for free. I think his site is www.alienthink.com. Also, there are many things behind the scene of painting that isn't fun at all. In fact, even if you work hard for months, you might not be able to create things fresh out of your mind, but don't turn towards the fun stuff. If you want to improve, then dicipline is the key. Feng Zhu has an episode called Before and After. Episode 59 I think. Youtube it, it might help. As for practicing tips, don't go on communities like this (no offense to anyone). Go on professional sites like 3D total, CGsociety, conceptart.org, etc.. Good luck.!
