Artist by Hyperchaotix

The consistently bizarre irony that occurs of sub-par hand artists is the prevalence of high illiteracy. This phenomenon intrigues me as artists who draw and artists who write tend to separate from each other despite this apparent correlation.

That really does seem to be the case. I suppose I've never really made that observation on my own, however.

Now all you need to do is make an off-colored traced picture with that same caption, and you've summed up a good majority of this community.

I'm Tom: Not just this community, but the artistic world as a whole.

Agreed. Most artists find fault with their own artwork, and try to improve it. I certainly have flaws in my artwork. I'm not the worst artist out there, I'm not the best either. I'm mediocre at it, but I practice. Unlike most others, who are ashamed to admit they can't draw, and perhaps even draw over other's artwork as well. This is a skrewed (original word being censored) community, but we'll have to make an example, and try to prove that we're all artists, but we need to practice to show our true potential.

This is so true... I hate saying that I'm good at drawing, though, because it always feels like bragging. I'm my own worst critic, too. I love your stuff, by the way.

Silverseer: Self-critique is the key to success. :) And, Thank you!

Is thinking that your drawings are rubbish self-critique or just low self esteem/pessimism

FreakBWGeek: Neither. Critique is finding all the good and all the bad in your work. You use this to help improve future artwork, amplifying the good and avoiding the bad.

I find it very rare to find such a verbose description as the one you made. Be careful not to deem yourself too sophisticated over others! It's common to find such things here, as the majority of self-proclaimed artists are, ya know, "bratty little kids".
