tracing is when you take a piture on the 3Ds by pressing the camera icon while chosing the colors, and painting over it using the picture as a background. yuor not stupid by the way, i had know idea either at first

when you press 'L', there is a tab with a camera icon on it. using it, you can put a picture into your painting, and, using the dropper, trace right over it. hope it helped!

I agree thunderteck, I had no idea what everyone was talking about when I first joined. I had odd visions of people with paper over their 3ds screens, trying madly to get the touch sensability to read their motions through the membrane.
