look at the little details of the sand blowing beneath the ship! and the shadow silohuette defining the edge of that layer. Fantastic!

Colors! is fun and all, but you're obviously a pro. I truly hope you're not wasting all your hours on a 3.5 inch 3DS screen. That said, however, we truly appreciate you sharing us your work! :)

Thanks a lot guys. @DrewDraw: Yes, multiple references - an old engine, and various ships. @Graviteur: I'm not a pro, I paint in my spare time. On canvas, in Photoshop, on the DS - it's all the same to me... certainly never a waste, if I'm being creative and exploring ideas. Cheers. :)

Is it taking off or landing? Very cool I'd love to see you try your hand at a locomotive full of rebels toting ak's like the guys from your other painting. It would be cool with an anti-airship cannon behind or on top of the engine...I look at your paintings and I have a story that ties them all together in my mind. I would love to see you collab with Senco and make some steampunk vehicles riddled with graffiti, you guys coul make a new genre urban-steampunk. Much appreciated, dudes. @Dark Artists: I almost always use references to pull inspiration from, or to understand some form or function. For this one I obviously looked at old sailing ships and engines.

@Dark Artist: References are a major help to artists. As long as you don't rely on them too much, they can help you solve many problems, and a well stocked reference folder can be a huge source of inspiration for anything from lighting situations, colour palettes, compositions, texture... you name it. I don't copy 1 for 1 (unless I'm doing a study)... It's all about how you use reference. Try painting a figure from imagination with a two point light source with some degree of accuracy. I doubt there are many professional artists with that innate ability. ;)
