Yoy probably would want to add an additional layer for both the pop-out and sink effects. It doesn't look smooth at all, but not a bad start! Keep it up.

Used as a reference, how do you trace on this?

If you're asking how I traced this? I didn't, I put a ruler across my 3DS screen to get the lines straight, then I sketched the circles, blocked out the coloring, and got to work. Took a long time to do it too.
If you are asking if you can trace this and then use it as a reference, then yes, I give you permission if it will allow you to improve your own art. Be sure to make sure you say something like "Original art by AnitaAngelo" and include a link to my original image.
