Just make simple 3d paintings, put a bit of time in them, check at the best of the week to see what people want.

yor not doing anything wrong its just the messed up community on colors :D (i think everyone has the same problem as you and me :p) the only way to fix the gallery would to get rid of p*rn and comics.... personally i think comics get too many likes too fast cause they are funny -.- and then p*rn makes the gallery look like some creepy p*rn site and most of the time its traced O-O and im like why didnt that get flagged... i drew a pic of a beach and there were girls and guys wearing like bathing suits i put ONE GIRL in a bikini it got flagged... O-O THE GALLERY FLUFFIN SUCKS LIKE WHAT ARE GIRLS GOING TO WEAR AT THE BEACH A SWEATER?!? i spend too much time on my paintings and they are forgotten in a second o-o lol sorry i kinda blew up.... -.- bye lol

I have the same problem in real life, but with people xD Anyway always try your best, and the MOST important thing that you always have to remember is to have fun drawing! Draw for yourself, not for everyone´s else ;)

And don´t blame HotD, he/she wants to get better! Believe me If one day I could put one of my paintings in Week´s best I´ll give everything to be there again. You need to superate yourself every time too! Keep getting better, always practice and such :)

ur stuff is good, but it's too small, it doesn't take up enough space, ppl like things that fill the whole page(or almost the whole page) it shows them that u put alot of effort into it :)
