You are doing ok...
Try practice a lot and you will get also good in creating stuff on your 3ds.
Play less games and draw more often ;)

Thanks. I am actually working on one that I am really proud of. I just haven't figured out how I want to do my buildings. And the people. I don't know how to draw people. Trial and error, I suppose.

Thats right trial and a lot of errors, but you will getting there after a while and get better over time.
You can also try to draw silhouettes and not highly detailed people. Or try tracing a few, you will see you get familiar with the curves and everything with that.
