Salamander licked his lips greedily as edged closer to the platter of sweets. Mom was gone and they looked so sweet... Suddenly, something slammed into his side with a loud /bang!/

His head shot up and saw a bright flash in the window. Bright, then gone. What just happened? His mind finally grasped the concept of lighting. And it was raining hard too. He tore his eyes away from the storm to look at his siblings that were now pressed against his side. They had a 'deer in the headlights' look as they stared out the window.

They were scared of thunder? Salamander blinked. Well it was their first electrical storm or was it? He shook his head and the others still hadn't budged from their spots. "Guys." he whispered and nudged them a little forcefully. "Guys!" his tone grew more bitter, but the others snapped out of their traces.

[*trances] "What /was/ that?" Alexeev's squeaky voice shook as pressed even closer to Salamander.
"Thunder." he said through a yawn.
"Is it gonna try and hurt us?" he asked.
"Of course not! Why would it? I have never heard of thunder hurting anypony anyways." he said.
Thunder was a showoff making all of that noise and light just to disappear. /Probably running back into sky./ He thought to himself. Silent Tempo was still tense though.

He felt terribly short on words now. This whole 'comforting' thing wasn't as easy as he imagined in his head.
"Silent they can't hurt you. They're fakers! They just make noise and then run away! Why care aboutthem?" he said forcing more words out more than there were natural.
"I'd beat them up if they tried anything funny!" he picked up one of their toys with his magic and threw it against wall for emphasis.
"Yeah!" she said most likely dazzled with his magic. Salamander was glad he never told them levitation was the most simple form of magic, even for a pony who's never even had school.
"What was that!?" he tensed as he heard their mother call out. Salamander quickly used his magic to cover themselves with their blanket. The othes closed their eyes and tried to look like they were sleeping, but the faint smiles on their faces said otherwise. And that was enough fill Salamander with a warm sense of accomplishment as he closed his eyes.
