Optical illusion by Dolfinochrom

Look at the cross with your right eye closed (or the dot with the left eye closed) for many seconds. You'll see the dot (or the cross if you look at the dot) disappear :) I don't know anymore why x)

Explanation: our eye is filled with a bunch of receptors known as cones or rods. When the light enters through the pupil it gets absorbed by the receptors and this is how we percieve light. However at the very back of the eye there is a spot where all the nerves join called to optic nerve and the are no receptors there so we get a blindspot about 5-10mm wide. We compensate for this because what one eye can't see the other does. But when we cover one eye we can't compensate and thus the blindspot. Every mammal has this problem.
