whats wrong with tracing?

Well you see, it kinda bothers me when people say its their own drawing when...they are an obvious tracer. Thats all.

Yeah, it's annoying when I see 50 drawings of Link that I've seen before. ORIGINALITY, PEOPLE.

This an app for ART! for real art that had effort put into it. i dont wanna come to this app and feel like i just went to google images!
im not kidding. tracers need ta stop. come up with something original! or at least draw an existing character from a different angle and position, yknow? most traced pictures are traces of an official picture of some sort and its been seen already by tons a people. please dont ruin this place. good job for raising awareness neko!

It'd be nice if evryone was original. I'd prefer nobody traced at all. but thats not gonna happen... *sigh

what about people that trace to get better at painting (like me)? for me, i suck VERY badly at drawing free-hand, and at shading. so, i have (mostly) used this to trace and try and get better at shading and blending. is that so wrong?

If that was the case, Seaking, id look into the basics of drawing and painting. or if you really feel the need to trace in order ta improve, go ahead, but just dont upload it. yknow what i mean. good luck. ^-^ but im sure many people would rather see originality instead of a traced image. im not kidding. its better ta look at original stuff..

so true, i watched a playback of a miku pic earlier. it started off as though they were drawing freehand and then half way through they suddenly started doing perfect linework thinking that no one would watch the video that far i'd guess XD. the rest of their gallery sealed the deal .i dont personally think kids should stop uploading their traces altogether, but its a bit sad that we might be missing out on seeing some great original art on the 'best of the week' page because of the many traces on there. i suppose its because these pics are getting highly rated. democracy in action! democracy fails again!

ish oblivious coz tracers trace linework and colour badly but they only do it to get higher ratings and stuff but seaking is right about that ... i've trace before but i've nwever posted anything traced before maybe instead you could use bases

you're supposed to just edit but you could still trace a base too

I traced when I was very little. Then when I was tweleve, I relied on references. Now I'm seventeen and have my own style. I understand that people need to learn how to draw. If you need to trace, then don't upload the traced image. Technically, that is art theft. I traced recently to learn how to draw a character, but after I figured out how to do it, I redrew the picture. I never uploaded the traced version.

Have you read the rules for this app? Obviously not. It includes not stealing existing art. Oh. And you trace too, of course you do xD well have fun with that I hope it gets you lots of pixilated stars.

if it looks good...i will give it a star. O_o people should just give credit to whatever they traced.

Okay I'm sorry, but I did say that in a comment though, so there, that was my point. I don't see why this drawing makes you angry though. Whats wrong with pointing out tracers that don't give credit and claim it as theirs? That makes me pretty mad too. I don't really get why pointing out dishonest people that make me angry makes YOU angry. If it's just because my picture annoys you then I can also say that non credit giving tracers annoy ME. I hate tracing... I prefer to draw from photos and will copy an image atleast. All my stuff is freehand apart from my very first picture of my dog.

again with this cr*p again im 11 and the only reason i trace is i can get the idea! plus get two pplz the same age make em trace the same pic one will do worse than the other or maybe they both fail or do really good plus tracing is hard i traced the MLP pic but who cares

Okay, so uhm, I just saw a comment about that some artist are worse than tracers, I don't know who posted that, but I just want to say that those people do practise their skills. Even if it is not noticable at the moment. I remember the time when my own art wasn't wort mentioning but give me some paper and a pencil now and it's totally different. Not as good as some others, but I make art because I like to do it.

Idc if someone traces but when they have all stars it makes me sad :_(

The picture is there because the original artist made it xD not because they want people to trace it. And tracing isnt the same as reffering to...

Peace12 the ability to trace is there so that you can trace your own sketches /artwork into colors, not the work of others. Its there to trace your own photos if youre a beginner too. It is not there to plagiarise the work of other artists XD

My only complaint is that a lot of people who trace don't try to make it interesting by adding 3d effects to it. Just make a flat, bad copy of something that already exists. Also the people who deny they trace suck! At least credit the original artist and be a proud tracer... I trace every once in a while just to enhance drawings with the 3d effect. :)

i dont trace :p...but y does it matter if they trace they got the app soo they shuld be able to enjoy it with out people writing negative on there photo

Tracers, people who do nothing but trace pictures and upload them. Particularly the ones that try to pass it off as their own art.

I AGREE WITH WHAT SOME OTHER PEOPLE ARE SAYING; IF YOU TRACE TO GET BETTER, THEN DON'T UPLOAD IT. IF YOU WOULDN'T TRACE A PAINTING SUCH AS THE MONA LISA OR STARRY NIGHT, THEN WHY WOULD YOU TRACE A DRAWING FROM THE INTERNET? IT'S JUST AS ILLEGAL.
