by the time bane finished her story the sun was just beginning to hide behind the mountains. "so," she finished "thats my story" there was a silence and then she said "can i hear your story?" Nikea seemed a little shocked at first but then she replied "well its not nearly as perplexing as yours, but sure." so they sat down once more and Nikea told her story. "when i was born i had a sister and a brother. my brother, as many pups, died in the moon of ice. the cold was to much to bear and so he passed on. but me and my sister Wyvern grew up strong and healthy. our father was never one to be impressed though, he seemed to think we werent good enough. so he went off and found a new mate." "that must have been hard for you." Bane replied dreadfully. "oh no! if anything our lives went uphill from there. he was a horrible wolf my father. always biting our haunches and swatting our faces. Anyways, after he left and my mother got over the devastation she managed to find a new mate and they had their own litter. Because of that me and Wyvern mostly grew up by ourselves. which was actualy very good because we gained a good sense of independence and we could take on many pack responsibilities." she looked at bane for a moment then concluded "so, thats practically all my life. me and Wyvern were grown up as all wolves were, nothing really changed until, she, dissapeared." Bane could tell Nikea was trying very hard not to burst into tears, so she tried changing the subject. "how about we go back to the den, uou seem tired." "sure." instinctively Bane pounce on it, and then with her claws raked a clean cut across its chest ki lling it instantly. "dinner" she called over her shoulder and then trotted off to the cave with the rabbit in mouth. -such a stange wolf- Nikea thought as she raced to catch up. In the cave they found Braik standing there, obviously he had been waiting. "the search party has been sent off and i was told to inform you that Tanner has gone off with them. he wishes you well and asked me to give you this." He lifted his paw to reviel a long peice of rope with a claw tied to it. There was also a strange purple design etched into it. it sort ofbreminded bane of a rattle snake she had once seen. She looked up at Braik "what is it?" A neclace passed on through generations of wolves in Tanners family, since he wont be here for your birthday in a week he wanted to give it to you now." "whats that strange design on the claw?" Braik shrugged as if he couldnt have cared less. Bane walked up and slid the necklace on. -it fits well- she thought. "is that all?" she asked. All for you." Braik said turning to Nikea "its been lovely having you here Nikea but we think it best you set out tomorow to continue your search." without another word he left. Bane thought she saw a strange look in Braik's eyes as he left but she decided to ignore it and enjoy her last night with Nikea. As the wolves sat down to eat the still hot rabbit the rain started up. "can you tell me about the pack?" Bane gazed at this wolf who returned it eith a stare of curiosity. Nikea staightened her shoulders into a posture of authority as it seemed she always did when she was explaining things. then she began. "We live in the realm known as Tormage. Their are 5 packs in all the kingdom, i am from the river pack and you live in the wind pack." "why are the packs all separate Nikea? Cant we just be one big pack?" -Bane clearly doesn't no a thing about the past of wolves- Nikea thought. she let out a small sigh "way back in the past Bane, we were one pack. But their were soo e wolves who disagreed about what the wolves all wanted. you some wolves wanted only power, and lust. But other wolves thought peace and harmony were best. The wolves fought for along time over power until they finally agreed to split the lands into different pack territories. There was the lightning pack, named for there lightning quick reflexes and mental skills. There was the fire pack, known for there hungry lust for blood and power. The steel pack, made of some of the toughest wolves both physically and mentally. the wind pack, made of the wolves who enjoyed communication with all animals and the tiver pack, made of the eolves that focus on being in sync with each other like communicsting without speaking, so as too come and go as one.
