I have found that by tilting the DS screen away from your face a little, it makes the color levels a bit closer to what I usually see on a computer screen. It lets you see the darks a little bit better that way.
thank you all! Otavio, I tried tilting in multiply directions, but especially saturated colours picked from life or from screen are screwed. The problem with dark colours is, that at a certain angle the DS screen is just too bright, what can be helped by tilting... or paying good attention to how far in the dark corner of the colour triangle you are :)
