So very true. Plus- (Prepare for long comment-ish-thing) since 'up' is 'away from gravity'... well, gravity is everywhere, so... it's scientifically impossibe. Or would I say phisically possible? Meh. It still makes no sense anyways. I mean, there's at least A BIT of gravity on all planets! Especially gas planets like Jupiter. So technically 'up' doesn't make proper sense, does it? And there's other excuses that wouldn't even make sense either. Some people (in buildings) say the ceiling, others say (at day-time) the sun (which makes even less sense), etc. The ceiling- same logic as 'the sky'. No proper 'up'. The sun- well, the 'up' theory. But also, even if we could pinpoint 'up', the question is if we could pinpoint if the sun was directly above you, therefore 'up' above you...
You know what? I could continue this comment all night, but I'm getting tired and people are probably annoyed by this. Plus I want to go play some Pokemon White 2. So I'll shut up now...

I'm so with you. I try to explain the concept to my friends, yet they get bored and go away or just tune out.(Not that I'm boring or anything...) It's very simple and layed out. Finally someone understands the concept. I'd be glad if you could sometime check my gallery. Thanks for explaining!XD

Good point. Plus the sun is, well... Earth spins on it's axis, therefore we are the Northern Hemisphere. The sun may shine above us, but in reality it is rather toward us. You know what, I'm tired. I have a soccer game, so I'll just like.

technacically "up" would actually be the direction away from the core of whatever planet you are on considering that tends to be the relative direction to where we look when we see the sky unless you are in space then looking at any planet would technically be looking "down" even if you move the way you do when you look "up" on earth but if you really are in space that could be any direction did i exceed the character limit?

^apparently not but assuming you are all on earth looking "up" generally means looking into space in the diection away from the planet's core except in space where there is no "up". too many words?

I say kind of the same thing when we're indoors, when they say the sky when i ask them whats up I reply with how do you know because when your inside you can't prove that the sky is above you so therefore the sky isn't up because you cannot prove it.
