It's not just this place. Dead internet theory is indeed a prominent theory.
I still remember a day when it was common for new painting here to get 20+ comments within the first day. My most popular painting has 500+ comments. It's impossible to read the oldest comments on it due to the limitations.
Sad as the state of this community is now, there's still a handful of talented artists I like to commune with now and then.
