''Rehabilitation will save your corrupted soul''

MC from the story that will forever remain in my head, Corrupted. ( #Corrupted-Crow)
I tried to draw a person... it's not as bad as my people used to be, (that's saying something), but there's still ALOT of room for improvement

Can I get the plot or smth for Corrupted? It sounds awesome. Also, I saw in your bio you wanted to come with a different name? I could(Maybe)help. I'm writing a few books so I have lots of book names. For example, UNBLINKING is the one im writing right now!
11 Mar, 2026, 1:17 am
@V_The_Artst
I've always wanted sombody to ask me that actually :D
I was just gonna awnser later because I just dont have time rn, but I didn't want to seem like I was ignoring your comment. I have a school trip from tomorrow to friday, and an Honors Chior rehrsal/concert the next day. So i'll have to remind myself to come back to this post.
Also, In an earlier post I had the lore of one of the characters, and it took THREE HOURS to writr because i'm bad at simplifying .. and that was only 1
11 Mar, 2026, 1:18 am
Also, im not a great writer so bear with me here.
I swear it's better in my head
14 Mar, 2026, 11:23 pm
@Coven-of-Crows I'm writing UNBLINKING rn, and just the villains lore is taking me DAYS. Seriously, though, this is an awesome drawing and seems like an awesome story and would LOVE to know the plot.
14 Mar, 2026, 11:37 pm
Btw, I subbed to your youtube account.
15 Mar, 2026, 7:33 pm
@V_The_Arst
Aw thank you <3
I need to post there again, I just have no ideas.
Okay, this'll probably take awhile :broken_heart:
Corruption, Mortality, and Trance are the gods of this realm. Corruption, fittingly, 'corrupts' the mortals pf Anhen, and Mortality is the god of life and death.
Trance, goddess of dreams, disappeared years ago, leaving the world in the dark as to her wherabouts. Multiple generations have grown up without dreams, and many are under the impression
15 Mar, 2026, 7:39 pm
that Trance either was a myth or had abandoned society.
Corruption knows that it's the fault of Mortality. Gods are powerful beings, and it would take another of equal or greater power to even make a dent in their immortal sheild. So, in an act of revenge, he corrupts Mortality's new son. (I'll get into how corruption works later)
A divine-child is meant to serve the god they were conjured from, carrying out tasks and errands in the mortal realm to promote their parent's influence
15 Mar, 2026, 7:47 pm
This fuels a decades long argumet between the two gods, each having a reason to despise eachother, what used to be a brotherly rivalry turned into compete hatred.
Refusing to care for a corrupted son, Mortality abadons him in the realm of mortals.
20 years later, this corrupted felt a yearning.
A yearning to leave his life of ignorance.
After being cast into the mortal realm, Alatus, Anhen's king, heard of a being of great power. Knowing this would be useful, he found Sol and raised him.
15 Mar, 2026, 7:52 pm
Even despite this, Alatus feared the inky black wings of corruption.
You see, Corruption was never inherently evil. His named had earned a negative connotation by mortals because his powers had led infected angelics to think for themselves, and quesion the systems of oppression we call law. They are the ones who start revolution, in a world where everybody else can only follow.
Politions didn't like this, so they led society to belive it was evil, their thoughts a parasite eating at a
15 Mar, 2026, 7:58 pm
perfectly crafted society.
So, Alatus tricked him into 'rehabillitation'.
Sol grew up thinking all thoughts questioning Alatus were evil, and was taught to push them down. Not a real thought.
And yes, he grew up having never experiencing a dream.
He knew about them from Alatus, who had experienced it all his childhood up until his early teens.
The only enities who harnessed power were gods, and the children of these divine. Sol could create, and was impervious to fire.
15 Mar, 2026, 8:04 pm
So, when he was old enough, Alatus asked him to fight in the civil war.
This war had started a few years earlier, the peope growing tierd of Alatus's awful laws.
Sol didn't like the idea of ******* anybody, his consence couldn't handle it.
"To **** is alot to ask of a person..."
"But Sol, you aren't a person."
Yes, Alatus was technically right.
He had convinced him, that with his fire, he was born to take this path. It would also be a step back in rehabilitation efforts.
15 Mar, 2026, 8:11 pm
1: k!lling**
2: k!ll**
(Censorship is so annoying)
So Sol went into war, not even knowing what he would be fighting for. He was never... allowed to know.
He went to burn a military camp used to train new recruits, their screams a permanent stain on his conscience. They didn't notice the fire before it was too late, letting him slip away unnoticed.
Word spread like wildfire by the few survivors about a demon impervious to fire who had a taste for blood. Some even said they saw him.
15 Mar, 2026, 8:15 pm
So, he was finally introduced to the noble side of the war, now known as the first Corrupted to be rehabillitated.
Now, Alatus was obsessed with Sol's public image.
Soon, he left again to burn another camp, which didn't go as smoothly. He sat in wait after first setting it ablaze, when he noticed a soldier stumbling out, relatively unharmed. Spotting what the revolution spread word of as a demon, he immediately fired an arrow.
Sol burned it before it touched him.
15 Mar, 2026, 8:21 pm
While he could **** the soldier, he didn't like seeing their death directly... only run away, trying his best not to hewr the screams.
So, he grabbed his sword, and hit him over the head, knocking him unconscious. Alatus wouldn't be opposed to a hostage of war.
A few days had gone by, and Sol grew curious. It might have been hs Corruption, but next time there was a councillor meeting, he slipped in and watched silently, hidden.
He know knew why there was a revolution
15 Mar, 2026, 8:24 pm
(Ignore my spelling errors, and the censored word...)
You see, Alatus was obsessed with creating the perfect economy, as it had crashed after a massive plauge in his childhood. When those left disabled from the plauge were the working class.
So, he had ordered all children born disabled to be ******, mental oe physical, and even those later in life. Even those who were injured fighting for him.
Many of the healthy working class were also exposed to awful work enviornments --
15 Mar, 2026, 8:34 pm
-- with impossible conditions and hours.
The list of atrocities went on, and those who defied were hung.
Sol slipped out of that room.
He needed to get out, sick to his stomach that he ****** people for this awful cause.
He wouldn't be able to live with himself if he left the hostage soldier here, so he found where Alatus kept these supposed 'subliminal' minds.
The soldier, (named Lumi), had sustained a few wounds from the gathering of information, --
15 Mar, 2026, 8:37 pm
-- But he was still capable enough to where as soon as the door slid open, he darted out and grabbed Sol. He ran out with him, beliving Sol had other intentions. Sol didn't try to escape, it would cause too much commotion. So he waited until Lumi had escaped in the dark of night.
(I'm taking a break rn. There's still alot to go, and I don't want to spend all day doing this. Ill come back to it. Also, it's better in my head, I made so many spelling errors and had alot of grammar issues)
16 Mar, 2026, 11:55 pm
OKAY, im sorry I wasnt able to respond to this eariler(im on a road trip), THIS IS AWESOME!!!! I cant wait for the next bit! Seriously, this is an AWESOME plot!!! Sol sounds AWESOME and Lumi seems like the kind of character im gonna love and then I already pretty much hate Alatus and again this is awesome and the fact that Trance is gone is also awesome! And I kinda like Corruption, he sounds awesome! I love this plot!!!
17 Mar, 2026, 12:00 am
Like, seriously, you should make this thing into a book! I would preorder it JUST so I could read it quicker! If I had to, I would pay over 200 dollars for this story.
17 Mar, 2026, 9:04 pm
@V_The_Artst
TYYY :]
I actually learned to write fiction by writing short stories, and it turns out that does not translate well to writing a chapter book, my scenes are too short. :')
If I do make it into something, it'd probably be a webtoon, I would just need to get a more consistent art style. It probably wouldn't be interesting though, becaus i'm about to tell you the whole plot
18 Mar, 2026, 12:20 am
You dont technically have to have chapters in a book. Ive seen a lot of books that dont have chapters, but still have over 200 pages, so even if the scenes are short you can still have it as a book without chapters. Or you could have chapters. For awhile when i was younger i was obsessed with the magic treehouse books, they have like a new chapter every two pages. My UNBLINKING book probably isnt gonna have chapters, tbh. But also, this would be pretty cool as a webtoon. So just do whatever you want, its your story.
18 Mar, 2026, 12:42 am
@V_The_Artst
I'm just saying that an emotional moment will last 1 paragraph and the impact isn't near what it's meant to be.
I was meaning to tell you this story in 1 day tbh, but oh well ig...
(cont.)
Once outside and awhile away, Sol brought a flame near Lumi's eyes to temporarily blind him. The man stumbled back and began to cough, and this is where Sol noticed the wounds he retained from the hostage situation. Probably out of exauhstion and pain, Lumi collapses.
18 Mar, 2026, 12:51 am
While he got the chance, Sol bandaged Lumi, and, as discreetly as possible.
Lumi woke up after a little while, confused. Looking beside him, he saw Sol sitting down.
Okay, so idk exactly what happens in this scene, but it's something along the lines of Lumi being horrified that this man who had just ****** almost everyone he worked with just helped him.
Eventually, after reluctantly talking to Sol, they come to a compromise. Even though Lumi had told him to leave, they decided Lumi couldnt --
18 Mar, 2026, 12:58 am
-- Go alone like this. They would travel to the nearest rebellion town, most of the ones near the palace had been destroyed though. Even though Lumi understood Sol a little more, he still didn't trust him in the slightest. Even so, they flew together to try and find a nearby town.
A few hours later, they decided to rest...
Sol saw something odd between the trees.
The head of a deer skull, and odd white robe... gods it was Mortality..
Sol decided to sneakily follow the god, his father
18 Mar, 2026, 1:03 am
Even though he had already gotten deep into the treeline, Mortality kept going.
Before he could think, a knife went flying past his head and landed in a tree, and the god was gone. He saw a figure hidden amoungst the trees, and soon after the sky began to fill with strange patterns
It didn't take long for him to realize it was an illusionist. And who are the only ones given the gift of a power?
Children of the gods.
Trying to navigate through the illusions --
18 Mar, 2026, 1:10 am
He realized this person had awful aim...
It didn't take all that long for him to corner the illusionist.
He pulled down the hood to get a better gauge on what he was dealing with, and quickly realized she was blind, and was lacking wings.
He decided to take her back to their resting area, and she suprisingly didn't talk much.
He and Lumi tried to get some information out of her, and managed to get one thing:
- She was Mortality's daughter (Making her Sol's sister)
Really didn't talk much, huh
18 Mar, 2026, 1:23 am
(OH, also that her name is Mirage, my dumbas$ forgot)
They could both easily overpower her, so they said they'd let her go as long as she didn't try to **** Sol again. She refused, saying something about how she can't go home empty handed.
No, couldn't.
Certainly, she wouldn't be breathing if she returned.
Sol agreed to let her stay, and while Lumi was apprehensive about it, he allowed it.
(As long as she destroyed all of her weapons.)
And so, they continued on, walking.
18 Mar, 2026, 1:30 am
Just deadweight by this point.
That's what she's always been, right?
Okay, so we need a Lumi lore drop at some point, so Sol asks why he decided to join the rebellion.
Three reasons -
There was a law where at least one person in the family had to work in Anhen's capitol, and that was Lumi's father. He never saw that man execept for a few times, and he could hardly remember his burly figure, much less his face. 1*
His mother got pregnant with his younger sister st one point, when he was 11
18 Mar, 2026, 1:36 am
And when the day they were both anticipating came, her birth, something went horribly wrong. She was born without wings...
Because of the laws Alatus had put in place, his mother, Holly, was forced to drown her own child at only a few hours old. She a river outside of their home, and told Lumi to leave. When he came back, the newborn child was forever gone 2**
Recently, he was given the news that his mother had been executed. Never told why, or how, or even let him say goodbye. 3**
18 Mar, 2026, 1:43 am
Eventually, they arrive in a village.
The villagers don't mind Lumi, are weary of Mirage, and appaled at the sight of the rumored 'demon', Sol.
Lumi and his introverted a$s attempts to talk it out with the people. They accept Mirage, but still regect Sol.
Sol was less trustworthy, yet quite a bit more charasmtic, tries to speak up.
He says how he wasn't aware of the horrors he stood for when fighting, and immediately left when he realized.
(Have to take a break :>)
18 Mar, 2026, 2:51 pm
Again, AWESOME. And Noooooo the baby :(((((((((( (Thats good though. Emotions, good or bad, are essential to a story.). I still love this plot. Also, I feel like Mirage has some secrets... hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.... Also, the fact that they think Sol is a demon is kinda awesome. Also, Mirage is blind and thats cool!! I love blind characters! Lumi sounds like the relatable comic relief who has a lot of trauma that makes you feel bad, and I love that. Ive said this way too much but again THIS IS AWESOME.
18 Mar, 2026, 2:55 pm
Also, you could make it a graphic novel or smth like that. Graphic novels are able to slow stories down because you dont have to have as many words, plus it skips all that annoying setting description since you can just draw it. And then its easier to slow down scenes since all you have to do is have less words on a panel or more panels(If, say, a character gets hurt really bad, use two panels showing the pain)
18 Mar, 2026, 3:00 pm
And for less words on a panel(Probably for more emotional moments, like Lumi's backstory reveal), you coyld make a character more hesitant to say something, but eventually they do, and it could be by telling someone else, or it could be a shared flashback(Like in the Son Of Neptune book where Frank and Hazel share a flashback, which Rick[I cant spell his last name to save my life]used as more of a romantic thing but it could also be used as a friendship thing), either works. Also, you could make it so every two chapters or so the POV changes so that way you get flashbacks for characters without others having to know. Again, though, its your story. Do what you want with it.
18 Mar, 2026, 9:19 pm
@V_The_Artst
I'm probably not going to make it into anything anyways, likley just going to be a story I keep for myself. I actually used to make comics on my old colors account.. and it was -- something alright. I actually think I remember you commenting on a post from it, but I might be wrong. See if 'Spirit of Rain' rings a bell
ngl I am haunted that I posted that online
18 Mar, 2026, 9:48 pm
(Also, I would love to hear the plot of Unblinking later :>)
Okay im'a continue now :D
Someway or another, they allow the three in, (still need to develop that part), but generally decide to avoid Sol.
Pov switch time :D (+ New character)
Imagine being divine, a god's child, but being completely useless? Doing nothing for the world, and secluded from society, Corvid was a hermit, living on a mountain-side outside of Anhen. He had been forgotten by his father, Corruption, when he was young-
18 Mar, 2026, 10:11 pm
- as Corruption became occupied with the dissapearance of Trance.
He wasn't all that dissapointed. Instead of carrying out tasks for the god, he got to live out his life how he wanted. He got to move to the mountains with his wife, Mira, and didn't care he wasn't important. His ability was to control Crows, and while it wasn't very powerful, he loved his birds.
That is, until it went wrong.
18 Mar, 2026, 10:35 pm
Twelve years prior, the two were expecting their first child.
Mira had decided to go for a walk, and it worried Corvid when she hadn't come back for longer than usual. He ventured out into the woods, only to find a trail of blood.
On Mortality, this better not be what he thinks it is.
Following in constant worry, he finally found her, dying.
He hadn't known what happened to her, only watch as she died in his arms, also taking the life of their unborn child.
18 Mar, 2026, 10:44 pm
His lack of purpose in this world no longer went unbothered, and he spiraled into a deep depression.
Yet, he had been secluded from society for so long, that, being unobservant, he didn't realize his purpose was right there in front of him.
He had dreams.
Just... didn't think anything of it.
(lumi)
He walkee throughout this temporary home, while the strange illusionist followed. He didn't mind her, she didn't bother him, just had nothing else to do.
ńøťħîńğ ëľšę țø ďìšťŕàćť ħëř fřøm --
18 Mar, 2026, 10:50 pm
from...
ah, it didn't matter to anyone else.
-
This town was very connected with the rebellion, so you would know that most rebellion rumors spreading from here likley aren't fake news. Lumi was out here for that sole purpose -- find out more about what's been circulating around recently.
There's a secluded area where they've been sheltering anyone targeted under noble law, mainly those with disabilities.
It's said to have been burned down by the opposing armies.
18 Mar, 2026, 10:55 pm
There were children in there... some who couldn't even escape.
He had always hoped his mother was the rebellious type and smuggled his sister to the organisation, and kept this secret to her grave. Maybe it's why she was executed...?
But, drowing was a peaceful death in comparasin to the agony of burning alive... so maybe that woudn't have been best.
He's seen many comrades be lit aflame before... it's why forgiving Sol would be a hard task.
18 Mar, 2026, 11:49 pm
(Alright, i might mispell things in this one, my brother pranked me by taking my screen protector off) OOOOOOOOOOO NEW CHARACTER!! Also, crows would be awesome to control or just befriend. My dad lives near some crows and occasionally feeds them and they've started bringing him COINS. HE HAS MADE FIVE DOLLARS IN COINS FROM CROWS- Corvid being forgotten by Corruption is a cool detail. Also, it seems like Corruption had a very strong bond with Mortality, considering Corruption forget about a whole person because of the disappearance. So Corruption isnt the most good person, but he ain't evil. Which again, awesome. And Lumi or Corvid are probably my favorite characters right now. Also, I might have read a page of Spirits Of Rain, I dont really remember, but the name sounds kinda familiar. And if Lumi's sister is alive... that would be a BIG reveal. Or if an evil illusionist makes Lumi see his sister, that could lead to SO many paths. And Mirage seems to be hiding something important ehehehehe(Evil writer goblin laugh because PLOT DEVICE).
18 Mar, 2026, 11:50 pm
Again, this story is awesome!!
18 Mar, 2026, 11:51 pm
And I will share the plot(Well, what i have of it)of UNBLINKING later when my typing is working better.
20 Mar, 2026, 1:38 am
My typing is better now!!
Xidorn(ZID-orn) - 25yr old, 5’7(170.18), red eye, violet eye, blonde hair, white
Leo(Lee-O) - 26yr old, 5'11, blue eyes, green ring around pupils, brown hair, white
20 Mar, 2026, 1:39 am
UNBLINKING Summary(Might get the timeline a little wrong, story ain't finished yet):
There's a guy named Xidorn(Zid-orn)who has one red eye and one violet eye goes to the optometrist. But the optometrist mentions the shadows that Xidorn can see, which he always thought was just his eyes playing tricks on him, and the wolf spirit that he sees every night at the end of his bed. The optometrist gives Xidorn the address to a safe house for people like him. Xidorn goes back to his apartment and joins his friend, Leo, on minecraft. He tells Leo about everything, then Leo decides that he's coming over(Oh, and goes in through Xidorn's window)and drags Xidorn to the safe house.
20 Mar, 2026, 1:39 am
Turns out the safe house was a trap and they ended up having to fight. Also, Leo has a sword and gives Xidorn a pocket knife. So they started fighting the shadows but the shadows multiplied every time they slashed them. So eventually they got disarmed, so then they had to do hand to hand, so Leo grabbed Xidorn and started… dancing?! It was the most effective way to fight in that situation, but Leo was weirdly competent. So eventually they got their weapons back. Then the shadows grabbed Leo, and Xidorn got MMMAAAAADDD. Xidorn proceeded to attack the shadows and save Leo and Leo was able to get his sword back. Also, at one point, a shadow pinned Xidorn to the wall and started telling him his doubts because it was a good concept and I wanted to use it. So Xidorn's dad died in a fire that Xidorn blames himself for. So anyway, the wolf spirit appeared and knocked the shadow away from Xidorn and eventually Xidorn and Leo were able to get outta there and got to a forest where Leo proceeded to bandage Xidorn's wounds.
20 Mar, 2026, 1:40 am
Again, it ain't done yet, and that is a very VERY short summary.
20 Mar, 2026, 1:58 pm
And that doesnt even START on the villain lore.
22 Mar, 2026, 9:25 pm
@V_The_Artst
Wait, that's actually so cool :D
The characters sound like they have a lot of lore and the world building sounds awesome. Gfejhgedkjyvgmjhdcbskdjybckjdvbskjhvbsdkhjvb this sounds so interesting
Ima continue with CORRUPTED rn. I WISH I had the capabilities to simplify this but I've had to use 10,000 comments. So many side plots ahhh :(
After eavesdropping for a bit, he hears no survivors were found.... Quite the tradedgy.
(A few hours earlier)
Asteri, (open to changing that name), had been living in this refuge her entire life... Was told her mother couldn't hide her wingless self, and giving the girl up was the child's only chance of survival. About 13 years old, she wondered what life would've been like if she had the wings that most others had possessed. To fly? It would be a blessing.
She couldn't sleep, so she wandered away from her bunkmates to the only windowed room, as one peering inside wouldn't be such a great thing for them. Even though they were in a heavily forested area outside of Anhen, it was still a worry. Yet, they were found and were burned alive.
EEExcept
22 Mar, 2026, 10:05 pm
(okay ignore that last word, it had a stroke)
Except for one.
Despite being severley burned, Asteri managed to jump out one of these windows, being the only one near the area. Yet, when she waited for another survivor to come out, she sat there for hours before realizing she had let them di3. Some weren't even capable of getting out on their own with the disabilities that landed them here, some infants, the others sleeping and didn't notice until too late. She was selfish.
Hearing a search party approach, worried they were coming back with fire again, she ran as far as her injured body would take her, before collapsing deep in the woods. Her right arm was burned horribly, and the glass from the window was making her bleed. She drifted in and out of consciousness, before becoming unresponsive.
- Corvid -
Still unaware as he dreams, forever unaware of his purpose. As he explores his dream world, his own home tonight, he sees someone who hasn't shown up in his nightmares before.... Mortality.
" Why hello, nephew "
I'm not gonna narrate this scene, I want to save time. Basically, Mortality wants Corruption to have as little power as possible and is trying to remove all of his influence on the world. Yet, Mortality can't kill a byproduct of another god, a limit to his power. So.... Mortality visits Corvid's dream to su1s1d3 bait him, and does so successfully :(
(Oh, I forgot to explain that yeah, Mortality does know where Trance is, and uses her for her power, including visiting dreams.)
Corvid goes out in the forests near his mountains to... D1e.
Yet, when he's about to finally do it, something catches his eye. Red.
Blood on the snow?
Distracted, he begins to walk over.
A girl, can't be older than 14, is laying against the tree... Unresponsive.
He ends up finding purpose in saving this girl.
I don't wanna go into detail RN I'm getting really lazy
24 Mar, 2026, 12:32 am
OH MY GODS LUMI'S SISTER IS ALIVE- AND MORTALITY TRIED THAT?! AND IT ALMOST WORKED?! AND MORTAĹITY IS BASICALLY HOLDING TRANCE PRISONER OR SOMETHING?! OH MY GODS, THIS IS IS AWESOME!!!
02 Apr, 2026, 12:07 am
@V_The_Artst
Sorry I haven't updated this in awhile. I've been focusing more on life, as it has been VERY stressful in the past week and a half. When I have gone on colors, I focused more on the drawing aspect.
Anyways--
(wait I wrore thks without reaing what I last wrote, sh!t)
02 Apr, 2026, 12:14 am
(Okay just looked)
(also I don't have much time to write today, but i'll try to get as much in as I can.)
The town is bustling, but never where Sol roams.
It's always quiet, clear of the avoidance... and he can't blame them.
He did mass ****** plently of soldiers on their side.
02 Apr, 2026, 12:21 am
But who is always following?
Mirage.
He dosen't know why she trails behind the sound of both him and Lumi's footsteps, but she can be company.
She still hasn't said why she tried to stab him, though.
Neither of them seem to have any hard feelings.
(ik i'm just tellig you tis story and not acrualy writing it but I lwky wanna include dialouge rn)
(It makes a part that comes later hit harder) >:)
"Sol?"
She usually just followed in scilence on his strolls...
"Yeah, Mirage?"
02 Apr, 2026, 12:32 am
"..."
"I... he can figure out a way at some point, right?"
.
"Who?"
.
"Mortality. To **** a demigod. He controls the domains of life and death, but anything divine isn't in the range of his power, so we only die from outside forces. But he can always figure out some way."
.
"We're his children, he wouldn't do that."
.
"You were spared from growing up with him. Yes he would."
.
"No, you'll be okay. I'll be okay. Why would he have made a child just to **** them?"
.
02 Apr, 2026, 12:42 am
"I won't last much longer, amoung the living. He told me himself. You, on the other hand..."
"Just... nevermind that..."
She walked away, leaving him stunned.
She didn't come back.
Lumi came with him to go look. Not only had they both grown fond of Mirage, but more tolerable to eachother. So they walked at eachother's sides, trying to find her.
There she is!
Or... it's an illusion.
Oh, but that means she's here!
But why would she make an illusion of herself?
02 Apr, 2026, 12:49 am
As they were trying to talk out possible reasons, they had been surrounded before they knew it.
Sol recognized these people, Alatus had clearly sent them, but was too cowardly to make an appearance himself. He wouldn't let his weapon -- or supposed 'son' -- get away without trying to get him back. And yes, Mirage was there. They had captured her when she went to have time alone so she would create an illusion to lure the two.
He wanted to burn his way out of this, but that would alos **** her
02 Apr, 2026, 12:58 am
There was no choice but to surrender.
(honestly, I wanted this scene to happen differently, but oh well)
It was all a blur. Next thing they knew, Sol was back in the Capitol building of Anhen... he didn't know what happened to the other two.
In a room, at a table, with Alatus sitting on the other side.
(lwk doing dialouge again because I feel like it.)
"Sol... you truly are corrupted. I'm dissapointed, really. After so many accomplishments... you still fail to overcome this --
02 Apr, 2026, 1:03 am
-- primitive nature of yours."
.
"Me? You're the one that's..."
He trailed off. One glance from Alatus completely knocked down his cocky nature. The only person that could do that...
"I suppose this can be your third chance, just with extra security measures. I wont just do away with someone Ispent so long rasing, and, I won't hide it anymore, valuble. Speaking of which, you'll surley want to know what happened to the other two, right?"
"Yes, I would like to know"
02 Apr, 2026, 1:09 am
"The enemy soldier is set to be executed in three days, we need to set these things in advance unfortunately or he would already be d3ad for treason. The other was more of a struggle to decide. As she is blind, my initial thought was to execute her and be done. But... a demigod is very valuable. So, tomorrow, she is set to be sold."
"I-- she what? And... Lumi--"
"Oh, losing people is just part of life. And anyways, did they ever really love you? Nobody can love a corrupted soul, nobody but me"
02 Apr, 2026, 1:17 am
(dw like a father.)
Sol sleeps in his old room that night, or... laying in bed. Horrified, he was unable to enter another dreamless sleep.
(Yay it's Corvid and Asteri time! We love them!)
He had been trying to treat the child's wounds, but i was nearly impossible without a medic. Taking her to one would only get her k'lled, as a wingless angelic.
(Even though the pain Asteri is experiencing is immense, I still want her to be well enough for bonding scenes, like feeding Corvid's crows.)
03 Apr, 2026, 12:23 am
Yet, even through this struggle, Asteri's existence gave Corvid hope. (He basically adopted her by this point)
But as he fell asleep at night, Mortality stared him in the eye. Another dream-visit
"She's going díe, you know that. Her clock will expire early, and then what will your purpose be? It's no use wasting all of your energy trying to hopelessly save her."
Almost immediately, Corvid woke up.
(Don't ask why Mortality dosen't just k*ll Asteri. I don't know, I need to develop that further)
03 Apr, 2026, 12:32 am
(perspective switch again)
The next morning, Mirage was following the sound of footsteps again. Yet, it was not at her own will this time. Alatus was leading her away, to whatever her life would be subject to.
She had... other intentions.
She's gotten more used to being blind since she tried to kíll Sol, and smuggled a knife in. She had had it hidden in a deep pocket for weeks, never removing it due to paranoia that the others would turn on her. They were no longer an issue, though.
03 Apr, 2026, 12:39 am
He had not brought guards with him, what could a blind and wingless person do?
Stab, apparently.
Swiftly, she stabbed his torso.
He was in a panic.
Even though it was exteremley painful, he pulled the knife out of his own stomach, barely able to move. Only adrenaline fueled him as he took the knife and stabbed it into the illusionist, hitting the vital areas more on the dot than she ever did.
Mirage was deád.
03 Apr, 2026, 12:44 am
I love k'lling off characters so much :)
-
Meanwhile, Sol was in his room, waiting for Alatus to summon him again. It took quite awhile, until he heard desperate knocks on the door.
"Sol, you have to help me. Get someone! Do something!'
Sol did not.
It was a struggle to force himself to keep the door closed. This was the man who raised him... was he really just going to let him die? Forced to listen to his desperate cries?
He was. To free the world is to suffer moral turmoil.
03 Apr, 2026, 12:48 am
When he heard Alatus choke him final breath, he slightly creaked the door open. Alatus had dragged himself to the door, leaving a trail of blood on the carpeted halls. He immediately closed the door, unable to look at the sight.
After a few hours of processing, he left, trying his best to avoid the body. He ran to the holding cells, desperately trying to find Lumi. When he did, he opened it and stared blankly for a few seconds, then hugged him. Confused, Lumi let it happen.
03 Apr, 2026, 12:53 am
They both left the cells, and found the people finally noticed the ******. Everybody was in a panic.
They were both only trying to get out, Mirage had to have been sold by now. They could locate her later.
Yet, as they neared the exit, her déad body lay in front of them.
Sol wants to cry, but only feels numb by this point. She díed a martyr.
Lumi freezes, dosen't even know what to do with this sight. Someone he had grew tp care about, d3ad in such a graphic way.
03 Apr, 2026, 9:07 pm
They escaped with one less than when they came into all this.
Due to all of the chaos, the two decide to camp out just outside of the capitol city.
But whose retched face appears in his dreams?
Mortality.
"Mirage could have survived... it's only that I didn't let her. I figured out a way to k'll her, and that was by delaying the déath of Alatus, just to the point he could retalliate."
"Why are you telling me this?"
"Because... I want to make your life a living heĺl."
03 Apr, 2026, 9:15 pm
"First, I sent Mirage to k'll you, but she became too soft after she failed. May have been due to the fact that I blinded her, but that's unimportant..."
"But I'm no longer interested in your death. You aren't exactly an influence of either me or Corruption... you're barely corupted anyways after Alatus got his greedy hands on you. It's not worth wasting my energy. So... you aren't exactly a threat. But, I still don't want you to see that the consequences of your existence have just faded."
03 Apr, 2026, 9:21 pm
"Now, i'll just k'll anyone who gets close to you. Deal? Nothing lasts forever, Sol. Including that soldier you so desperately want to like you. His time will come quite soon, actually."
He woke up, and it just occurred to him that Mortality visted his dream. Infact, that was the first dream he had in his life. How would that happen without... Trance?
Immediately checking on Lumi in the night, he still saw his chest rising and falling...
Mortality would taunt him wit paranoia, wouldn't he?
05 Apr, 2026, 1:39 am
NOOOOOOOO, MIRAGE(I like killing characters too, btw!)!!!!!! YAYYYYYYYY ATALUS IS DEADDDDDDDDDDDD!!!!!!!!! OMG MORTALITY IS GONNA KILL LUMI- Also, THANK YOU FOR NOT BEING WEIRD ABOUT SOL AND ATALUS'S RELATIONSHIP SHIP, SO MANY PEOPLE I USED TO KNOW WOULD MAKE IT ROMANTIC, AND THATS JUST EW- But also.... I see potential for Sol X Lumi... but probably just friends, so far no romance part i think. What would the ship name even be? Like, corruptedsoilder or something? Or flamesoilder? I dunno. I like making ship names for random characters for some reasons.
05 Apr, 2026, 1:42 am
Also, yeaaahhhh, life stuff kinda suuuuucks. If anythings going on, you can tell me about it. I kinda had a depression spiral a bit ago, and id hate if anyone goes through that, not saying your going through that, just... I hate really hated when I went through that. Anyway, story!
05 Apr, 2026, 6:23 pm
@V_the_Artst
Yeah i've gone through that a few times, and it's not fun. But that's not the reason I was gone. I had state testing, (probably the hardest tests i've ever taken ), and at the same time got food poisoning.
But i'm on spring break now though :]
Also the original concept of Corrupted... was supposed to be a romance between Lumi and Sol. But I CANNOT write romace, especially since i've never experienced it. The ship is no longer cannon, but I still ship them myself :]
05 Apr, 2026, 6:30 pm
Anyways, onto the story.
(We're nearly finished!)
(I think...)
Lumi still wakes up the next morning, and Sol couldn't bring himself to tell Lumi of the dream he had the previous night.
He didn't want to add insult to the injury, either.
As they make their way back to the town they had previous stayed at, they learned that the nobles nad surrendered in the civl war. Turns out with Alatus gone, they had all fallen into dissaray.
As the report said, a second body was found at the scene.
05 Apr, 2026, 6:34 pm
A few council members identified her as one for the market, yet the buyer was never located. They had also stated that she was Mortality's daughter after the press wouldn't stop asking. This has led some to belive that the ****** was divine intervention from the god himself, and lose their support for the nobles. Yet, plently of support still remains.
By the revolution, she is celebrated as a hero, despite the identity being relatively unknown.
Did she want to be known as a martyr?
05 Apr, 2026, 6:42 pm
- Over the nexr few days, Lumi begins to act unpredictably. Unusual calmness and yet outbursts of anger. -
Sol gets worried... and at the height of this, Lumi seems unusually calm...
Strange, for being puppeted by a god.
Strange, for hardly having control over his own mind.
This infection is best known as Mortality's parasite. Usually sent by the god himself, this parasite slowly takes over the body until it has full control, and grows large enough to wrap it's victims in itself,
05 Apr, 2026, 6:52 pm
, completely changing the person.
Once in control, it will k!ll all those around it to feast, and eventually, the host will d!e from exaustion.
'' Lumi, what is that on your neck? ''
'' What is what? ''
As he turns around to look at Sol, the infection has spread quite a bit, and was continuing rapidly. There was only a matter of minutes... and he was smiling.
05 Apr, 2026, 6:58 pm
With his last moment of consiousness... he turned to Sol.
'' Y'know, Sol? I hated your guts... but i've finally come to the reaisation that you were only misguided. Unfortunate, how i'll never get to know this new you. ''
A few moments later of scilence, the infection had come to it's final phase and Lumi lunged at Sol.
yada yada yada fight scene.
Sol couldn't bring himself to **** Lumi, so he instead lead him to a shed, locked the door, and boarded it up.
Three losses, 2 days.
05 Apr, 2026, 7:04 pm
The townspeople advocated to k!ll him so he wouldn't pose a threat, but Sol flat out refused.
Maybe it was more cruel to lock him away, with nothing but wooden walls. Maybe it would be humane to k!ll him now instead, instead of letting him slowly starve and d!e in that cramped shed.
Yet, he didn't care. He just wanted to know the last one left was 'alive'.
... 'alive'.
(Perspective switch - Asteri)
This awful pain had still persisted, even through Corvid's failed healing attempts...
05 Apr, 2026, 7:11 pm
The wounds had become infected, and even though she desperately wanted to stay, she knew deáth was coming for her soon. The only relief she felt was in her dreams at night... which, on a seperate note, were quite interesting to her. Have dreams existed this whole time? And why has Corvid hidden them from tne world.
She decided to bring it up to him.
While yes, he had known for a long time that Trance has been missing, he wss unaware the world was lacking dreams. How unobservent he was...
05 Apr, 2026, 7:21 pm
As he fell asleep that night, his dream took place in a surreal forest. He was in his wife's old clothing.
Trance's three eyes stare at him in desperation, her own guts hanging out of her stomach.
'' Corvid... Corvid stop ignoring your dreams. ''
S h e.h a d.b e e n.g o i n g.i n s a n e
'' Please, please, i'm not far. Not far at all, dreams.... you've been having them! Recognize i'm trying to reach you. Imnearimnearimnear.. whydoIhavetobeimmortal? nomatterwhathappensIlivethroughittorturously.
05 Apr, 2026, 7:30 pm
He woke up.
Trance had... what?
Visited his dream.
She wasn't far from here.
And he had been ignoring her.
He needed to speak with his father, to speak with Corruption.
So he checked on Asteri, before leaving in the early hours of the morning. He signaled for Corruption to bring him to the divine plane, the father and son coming face-to-face after multiple decades.
"Corvid? I apologize that i've been busy."
.
"This is urgent..."
05 Apr, 2026, 7:35 pm
He tells about the dreams he's been having, and how Trance is somewhere amoung the mountains.
Corruption, slightly annoyed that Corvid had been ignoring that he was dreaming, was still overcome with hope. She was still out there, and he finally knew where.
[ Perspective switch - Trance ]
Mortality had wanted all the power, so he severely weakened Trance to the point she couldn't perform her duties as a god, and stole her away.
All 50 years ago, and he had been attempting to weaken Corruptio
06 Apr, 2026, 12:18 am

Many wish to be immortal -- until they are. No matter how much you'll endure... you stay alive. Your organs could be hanging out of your stomach and you'll be alive for every agonizing second of it. (Much like Trance at this moment)
Also, Trance feeds off of dreams... used to collect millions by the day. Now, all she can collect is a few scraps from Corvid, and is starving -- a starvation that's eternal.
She lay in a dark room, battered and bloody. Visiting a dream was not a good idea
06 Apr, 2026, 12:24 am
notagoodideaatall
Mortality wasn't very fond of it.
So, shes just... given up. So weak that she's les than a mortal. Trying to escape only hurts her more, and shes even intentionally hurt herself in a few escape attempts.
It was completely us3le3ss!
Forever starving, trying to sew her own stomach together, on the brink of complete insanity.
For the next few days, she barley stirs. For decades, she's at least tried. But, what's the point, really?
06 Apr, 2026, 12:31 am
- Corruption and Corvid finally find the cavern to house the god, and Corruption is able to get through the security measures that Trance has struggled with for years in her weakened state.
The sight of Trance is horrifying to the two...
Blood smeared on the walls, festering wounds, a starving body, and eyes filled with madness and desperation.
While Corvid stays in the doorway, Corruption runs in the room and pulls her in for a hug. She dosen't embrace back, but falls limply --
06 Apr, 2026, 12:40 am
-- into her brother's arms.
She dosen't know weather to feel releived or panicked.
Lwky not going over this scene all that much bc I hate fight scenes but Mortality enters, is angry, they fight with trance and corvid watching, yada yada yada...
Anyways, somthing happened that nobody thought to be possible...
Corruption ****** Mortality.
Questions remain on if Trance is really capable of performing the tasks of a god in this state, or if it's safe for people to dream.

....... MORTAILITY'S DEAD?!?!?!?! HOW?!?!??! WHAT'S GONNA HAPPEN TO LUMI AFTER THAT?!?!?! IS THE PARASITE GONNA LET HIM GO?!?!?!?! AND WILL TRANCE BE OKAY?!?!?!?!
13 Apr, 2026, 9:25 pm
@V_the_artst
ok i'ma finish ts today :]
Corruption was ... worried, after he k!lled Mortality. Would life no longer exist, would mortal birth end? Would de.th no longer be there to balance out the population?
As the days went on... nothing happened. He observed the mortals d!e and new children were still born.
What it did was make de.th natrual.
The truth is, both life and de.ath exist without a god to rule them, but that reign was to control them. De.th was no longer targeted, but natrual.
13 Apr, 2026, 9:32 pm
It also ridded the world of the parasite.
Lumi had just went through the most tramautic experience of his life... he was fully consious the whole time but had no control over his body.
He looked around him, scratch marks lined the shed door.
He was also starving. He had been trapped in this shed for two weeks with nothing.
It took another two days for the news of Mortality's dea'h and Trance's life to get to Sol, which finally led him to shed the shed with hope.
13 Apr, 2026, 9:39 pm
(OPEN the shed, why'd I write 'shed the shed'? :sob:)
He was there, clinging on to a scrap of existence. Though, he resented Sol. It was cruel to let Lumi keep living when he would have likley d'ed anyways, d'ed a much slower death. Yet, he had nobody else, so he stayed with Sol.
(Might not be a good choice in other circumstances, but I believe this demonstrates character development. He used to be unwilling to trust anyone.)
13 Apr, 2026, 10:23 pm
- Corvid and Asteri -
Once Corvid was sure this new administration coming out of the war would accept people like Asteri, he could finally take her out of hiding and to a hospital. Her arm was clearly infected and starting to k'll her, and ended up having to be amputated. (Realisticly they wouldn't have anesthesia, but I don't want her to have more trauma ahh :broken_heart:)
^
|
Something no OC creator has ever said.
Who was also in the same hospital?
Lumi.
13 Apr, 2026, 10:32 pm
Yippeee family reunion time.
Idk they somehow find out eachother's identifies?
Even though he has the right, Lumi dosen't take Asteri. He is not in the position to with his horrible PTSD, and Corvid would lwky be distraught. (He does visit alot tho :>)
Theres probably some sort of epilogue scene idk
annnd thats all
13 Apr, 2026, 10:39 pm
Okay that was NOT a summary, I got REALLY carried away. It took 66 comments, not including comments when I wasn't telling the story :broken_heart:
Theres alot of plot holes. Who becomes the new leader of Anhen? How do mortals react to dreaming? What happened to Trance? How are corrupteds treated after the climatic scenes, an dhow do I show this throughout the story?
But i'll try and figure that out.
13 Apr, 2026, 11:07 pm
It seems like Trance was tortured into submission by Mortaility, I think the mortals will be confused by dreaming, but understand it eventually, and I think either Sol or Lumi will become the leader of Anhen. But thats just my thoughts. Also, yeah, not a lot OC creators say that. Anyways, THAT WAS FCKING AWESOME!!!
13 Apr, 2026, 11:19 pm
@V_the_Artst
I know what happened to Trance, but I need to decide how things go for her after she is found and returned to the divine plane.
Also I had a character to rule Anhen, it was going to be the revolution leader, but I scrapped her. I just need to create a better character design, name, and actual lore.
13 Apr, 2026, 11:20 pm
Also tysm <3
17 Apr, 2026, 10:26 pm
Like, You should genuinely write this in, like, book form, even if you dont publish it. Or youtube animations. I would actually PAY for this story. This is totally awesome! I ain't tryna pressure you to do anything with it, but, like, this is fcking awesome!

UNBLINKING
Look, I never wanted this to happen. I never wanted to see them. I didn't have a choice. I have to survive.
I woke up, tired as I took my glasses to help with the light bothering me. I had two different colored eyes, one violet and one red. Low melanin, according to the doctors. I looked in the corner, convinced I saw something, nothing was there. I shook my head. “Get a hold of yourself…” I muttered to myself as I got ready for my optometrist appointment. I had a new one, and apparently they needed to see my eyes. I was used to it by now. I walked out, keeping my glasses on so the light didn't annoy my eyes. People shot me weird looks, after all it wasn't that bright today, but it still hurt my eyes. I looked at the ground, tracing the lines of the sidewalk in my mind. I finally arrived at the appointment. “Xidorn?” The receptionist asked, pronouncing the name wrong like many, she pronounced it as if the X actually sounded like X, spoiler alert, it doesn't. “It's pronounced zid-orn. Yes, that's me.” I replied. For some reason my father always wanted to name me something that meant seeker. He had the same color eyes as me, so maybe it was because of the light looking weird to us. I never really questioned it. The receptionist motioned me to a room, I walked in and shut the door softly behind me. “Xidorn?” The optometrist asked, I opened my mouth to correct her before realizing she said it perfectly. “Yeah, that's me.” I replied. “Hi, I'm Clara. Your new optometrist” Clara said. I nodded. “Please sit down.” Clara said and gestured to a chair. I sat down. The appointment went on for a while, and I zoned out. Just a regular appointment. “We're almost done, Xidorn. Now, can you tell me what the shadow in the corner is?” Clara said, I immediately snapped back to reality, no one had ever mentioned the shadows before. My eyes flickered to the corner, but it disappeared. “Uh. It was… tall with way too long arms. I don't really know how to describe it.” I said, Clara noodded along. “And the wolf spirit that stands at the end of your bed each night?” Clara asked. “How do you know about that?” I replied, confused. That wolf thing had been haunting me for as long as I can remember. It was creepy, but every time I mentioned it, my mom said it was just my imagination. How did this random optometrist know these things? Then, Clara pulled a drawer, it looked like it was made by a kid, but it clearly showed the wolf spirit. “You made this when you were a child, my mother was your optometrist when you were a kid.” Clara said. “W… what?!” I said, confused and scared. Clara looked around like she was making sure no one was watching, then leaned in. “The reason your eyes are like that isn't because of low melanin, it's because you can see them. The things in your peripheral vision that disappear when you look at them. The wolf.” Clara whispered in my ear. I froze, my breath hitched. “They… they're… real…?” I asked. Clara handed me a piece of paper with coordinates on it. “What's this?” I said, this is getting more confusing by the second. “Head there. They can help.” Clara said and walked out. I sat there for a while, staring at the piece of paper. After a bit, I shoved it into my pocket and exited the room. I walked home, but there were so many shadows, I got dizzy. So dizzy. I had to sit down. Was what Clara said true? Were these stupid shadows really real? I had to get home. I was able to stand up eventually. I walked home. I put my glasses on my shelf. turned on my Xbox and pulled up minecraft. My friend, Leo, was online, good. I joined him. “Hey, uh, my new optometrist just told me something… disturbing.” I said. “And what would that be?” Leo aske
27 Apr, 2026, 1:14 am
d. “So you know how my eyes have always been weird and I see random shadows and that wolf thing?” I said. “Yeah. And?” Leo replied. “Well apparently they're real.” I said. “.... come again?” Leo asked. “THE. SHADOWS. ARE. REAL.” I said, louder. “OKAY UHM-” Leo said. “Yeah.” I said. “Okay, I'm coming over, stay RIGHT there.” Leo said. Five minutes later, he was sitting on my bed in my studio apartment while I screamed about how he can't break my window when he comes in. Don't ask. “Okay, anyway, shut up, we need to talk about the shadows.” Leo said. “YOU CANT JUST- oh right the shadows, anyway shutting up.” I said. “Okay, so the shadows and the wolf are real, anything else I should know, Xidorn?” Leo said. “Thats about it.” I replied. “Okay, well, uhm, uh, so uhm, we're going to that safe house.” Leo said. “WHYYYYYYYYY?” I asked, totally calm(not calm at all - Leo. Shut up. -Xidorn[Actual narrator]). “Because I said so. Now get in the car before I leave you behind.” Leo said and walked to his car. “WAIT- WAIT FOR ME!” I said and hurried after him. We got in the car and Leo put the coordinates into the GPS. I grumbled,”Still mad at you for breaking my window…” I said, quietly. “Deal with it~” Leo replied as he pulled into Kwik Trip, “We're getting car snacks, come on.” he said as he stepped out of the car. I tried opening my door, but it didn't budge. “YOU CHILDLOCKED ME!! AGAIN!” I said, mad. “It was an accident this time!” Leo said as he unlocked and opened my door. I walked into the kwik trip with Leo and grabbed some chips. Leo grabbed some snacks and paid for the stuff, then we went back to the car and he handed me a Slim Jim, which I took. “Knew you'd want one. You can grab things you want instead of just chips, Xidorn.” Leo said. “I know, but still.” I replied. Leo sighed and started driving, and the radio started playing some dumb country song about love. Then the song cut out, and instead a garbled audio played. I started recording it because I love solving ARGs so it's basically an instinct at this point. The song came back on and I played the audio reversed, nothing. I turned on captions and played the video. Nothing. Then I thought of something I saw in a video, and I reverse played the video and turned on captions. A cipher. “Yes! I love ciphers!” I said, “You doing something with that audio?” Leo asked. “Yep! It looks like an A1 Z26 cipher, ima decode it! It's 23-5-18-5-19 23-1-20-3-8-9-14-7, 8-5 3-1-14-14-15-20 16-18-15-20-5-3-20 25-15-21 6-15-18-5-22-5-18. Not decoded.” I said and grabbed a piece of paper and started writing it down and decoding it. “And decoding it's…” I said but froze before I could finish the sentence. “What is it?” Leo asked and I handed him the paper, my hand shaking. “... ‘We're watching, he cannot protect you forever’...” Leo read. “Oh my god… ALRIGHT WE'RE BREAKING TRAFFIC LAWS!” he said and sped up to 80 miles per hour in a 70 zone. I looked outside the window, for once the shadow did not disappear when I looked. It stood, facing me, an evil grinon its face. Leo glanced at the window and sped up a bit more, which confused me because there was no indication that he could see them, but he probably just noticed that I saw something, so I brushed it off. Thankfully, the shadow disappeared… eventually. Leo drove in silence, strange, considering he loves to talk. But what had just happened was pretty confusing and TERRIFYING so I just didn't say anything either. The song ended with a beep as the GPS finished its route. We were in the middle of nowhere, how was this a safe house? Leo got out, and I followed. We walked around for a bit but nothing. Then, the ground opened. We fell in, then we saw somebody with the same eyes as me, a lot of people with them. “Safe house password?” The lady looked me over and asked. I remembered the address, the numbers could be decoded with a two part cipher. I quickly decoded it in my head. “Uh… Pepperoni?” I said. Leo was still quiet, but he had a hardened look
27 Apr, 2026, 1:15 am
on his face as his eyes swept over the people in the hall. “That is correct! Welcome to Seeker Camp! Don't ask why we call it camp, we couldn't think of anything else.” The lady said with a smile. I nodded and started walking around, Leo following close behind. “Something feels… wrong here, Xidorn…” Leo whispered. “Aw, c'mon man, this is the safe house!” I responded, but I sounded more… extroverted. “Xidorn, I'm telling you, something is wrong.” Leo said. “Ah, I'm sure it's fine!” I said. We walked around a bit more, the only sound being Leo's muttering. “Xidorn, something is wrong. I can feel it.” Leo said, his voice confused. I spun around, angry at Leo. “There is nothing wrong! This is the safe house! Would you just shut up for once?!” I said. Leo froze, “Xidorn, this isn't a safe house. It can't be…” he said. “Why?!” I replied. “Listen, Xidorn, this isn't the safe house!” Leo argued, “Yes, it is!’ I said. “Look behind you!” Leo said suddenly and moved in front of me, I looked at where he was, shadows were surrounding him now. So… many… shadows… I started panicking. I froze, everything clearing like there was a fog over my mind. “Leo, what happened? What's going on?” I said, desperation creeping through my voice. Leo was too busy fighting the shadows, somehow, to answer. “WHERE DID YOU GET A SWORD?!” I called. “A few years ago!” Leo called back. Leo was being overpowered by the shadows. I looked around for help from the others, but they were gone. They were the shadows. I should've trusted Leo. Something was wrong. I tried to step into the fray, but a shadow pinned me to the wall “You're the reason he's dead. You killed him. You started the fire. You're the reason he's dead.” The shadow whispered. I started shaking. “Don't listen to it, Xidorn! You're not the reason he's gone!” Leo called. “You killed him, and you know it.” The shadow whispered. I was believing it, and I started to give up. It felt like my strength was being drained from me. I remembered what happened that night, what I said, and what I did. The fire. So much fire. “YOU DIDN'T KILL YOUR DAD!” Leo yelled, I snapped out of the memory. The wolf appeared and tackled the shadow off me, throwing it to the ground. I went to Leo's side. “Got another weapon I could use?” I asked. “Does a pocket knife work?” Leo replied, half joking. “Probably.” I said, he handed me the pocket knife. A shadow tried to grab me, I hit to the side with the blade, it dispersed into more shadows. “Seriously?!” I said, annoyed and shocked that the shadows just MULTIPLED. “Yep!” Leo replied. A shadow hit the hilt of my knife, knocking it out of my hand. “Oh come on! I let my guard down for one second!” I protested. Leo's sword was thrown across the room by a shadow. No weapons anymore. Me and Leo got ready to fight them hand-to-hand. Then a shadow tried to pin me against the wall, Leo grabbed me and spun me out of the way. “Are we dancing now?!” I reacted, “If you wanna live, yeah!” Leo replied. “Ugh…” I said, I really hated dancing. Leo appeared at my side, I didn't even realize he moved. Leo grabbed me and dodged a shadow. “I hope you practiced your dancing, Xidorn!” Leo said as he sidestepped another shadow's attack. “Why are we doing this?!?!?” I said. “To live?” Leo said. I quickly dodged as another shadow attacked, but I got tripped up and almost fell, then Leo caught me. I noticed his eyes were… weird. Not like mine, but… his eyes weren't just blue. They had a ring of green around his pupils. Leo pulled me up a second later and sidestepped as a shadow lunged at us. We kept avoiding the shadows by dancing, and we got close to Leo's sword. I spun Leo towards his sword, he seemed to understand and he grabbed the sword. I spotted the pocket knife I was using and I ran over to it, weaving through shadows as Leo attacked the shadows behind me. I grabbed the pocket knife and turned around. Two shadows had grabbed Leo. “Let him go!” I said, I hoped I sounded braver than I felt. The shadows

laughed and tightened their grip on Leo. Leo winced. Leo’s sword was in one of the shadow’s free arms. I couldn’t let him get hurt. He was my only friend through everything. I lunged at the shadows, my moves messy. The shadows scattered, but one of them still held on to Leo. I attacked the shadow holding my best friend. The shadow moved to the corner, the others creating a barrier, I jumped through the other shadows and stabbed the one holding Leo. It evaporated, and reformed as two shadows a bit away, but Leo was good. I grabbed Leo in a tight hug, holding close. “Never scare me like that again.” I managed. “Deal.” Leo replied and hugged me back. We finally let go of each other, the shadows had collected around Leo’s sword. Leo started after it, and I pulled him back. “We can get you another sword, Leo, now let's get out of here!” I said. “We need my sword!” Leo protested. I started to tell him that we didn't need it, but he looked so desperate, so I let go of him. He ran to get his sword, and I attacked the shadows that tried swarming him. Leo picked up his sword, and we ran to find an exit. I found where the ground had swallowed us and tried to open the trapdoor. It was locked. I tried to pry it open with my knife, but it was too small. Leo tried using his sword. A shadow approached me, then another pulled it back. “You dummy! We can’t touch him! The boss said not to kill him, and you can't control your death touch ability!" The shadow seethed at the other. The other shadow sulked. Leo got the trapdoor opened! Leo grabbed my hand and pulled me out next to him, we slammed the trapdoor shut. We looked at Leo’s car, gone. I grabbed Leo’s hand and ran into the forest. After a while of running, we made it to a clearing and sat down. “I’m sorry about what I said, Leo, really. I.. I don't know why I did that.” I say, feeling really bad about telling Leo to shut up earlier. “Ah, it’s alright, you weren't yourself, but I saved us.” Leo said with a grin. “Yeah, yeah, laugh it up.” I rolled my eyes, but I was smiling. I started to stand to make a camp, but Leo pulled me back down. “Dont move too much, let me check for injuries.” He said. I let him check. Thankfully, I was fine. “Alright, you made sure I’m alright, can I set up a camp now?” I said as he checked over my injuries. “Nope, I'll be setting up the camp. You can meet your wolf friend.” Leo said when he finished and gestured to the wolf spirit at the edge of the clearing. I groaned. Sure, the wolf had saved us, but it had also haunted me since I was a kid. Leo got up and walked away to get supplies, much to my displeasure. The wolf spirit was standing just at the end of the clearing, not moving. It reminded me of when it would stand at the edge of my bed and just watch. I took a deep breath and walked over, just so I could tell Leo I did it. “Nice wolf spirit…. Don’t kill me…” I said nervously as I approached slowly. The wolf spirit looked at me like I just told it the sky was blue. My face turned slightly red with embarrassment. I finally reached the wolf spirit and I booped its nose cautiously. It looked a little flustered, it clearly liked the boop but didn’t wanna admit it. I giggled like a little kid for a second at its flustered state before petting the wolf spirit. Though, I was still a bit scared considering it was a glowing white wolf that could probably kill me in less than a second. But in that moment where I was just petting the wolf spirit’s soft, glowing fur, I forgot my fear. The wolf spirit looked like a male, and it was clear now that his job was to protect me. I needed something to call him. “How do you like being called Sćlid?” I said, pronouncing the name like Sh-el-d instead of Shield. I knew the correct pronunciation, but I wanted the name to sound more mythical, for lack of a better word. “.... Fine.” Sćlid spoke in my mind, much to my surprise. He sounded annoyed but his tail was wagging, so I think he liked the new name. I walked back to the clearing t

o wait for Leo, and this time, Sćlid followed me. We waited for Leo in the clearing, but then I heard a scream. It sounded like Leo. I moved without thinking, running towards the sound. “Can’t lose him… Not him as well…” I mumbled to myself as I ran. I could hear Sćlid behind me, bounding forward. I pulled out the pocket knife Leo gave me, flicking it open as we ran. Finally, we saw what was going on. Leo was face-to-face with a brown bear. Except the bear had two shadows at its side, laughing. Leo was out of breath and he was tied to a tree, his sword in one of the shadow’s hands. Me and Sćlid stayed in the shadows, though Sćlid’s glowing fur didn't help much. But it seemed like the shadows weren’t paying attention to anything except Leo. They were tossing his sword around, trying to damage it while Leo couldn’t stop them. Leo glared, something rare for him as he was always upbeat and finding light in the darkest days, but he couldn’t do anything about it. He struggled in the ropes and the bear growled, Leo reluctantly stopped. My grip tightened on my pocket knife. I couldn’t rush in, not yet. They might hurt Leo. I had to think this through, like I would when deciphering ciphers. Me and Sćlid waited, watching. The shadows kept throwing around his sword, laughing. “You want this back, Leo? Come and get it! Oh, wait, you can’t!” One shadow mocked, the other laughed louder. “Put. My. Sword. Down. Now.” Leo said, voice low and demanding like I’d never heard before. The shadows paused for a moment, then laughed more. “You don’t have any control here, Leo!” The second shadow said between laughs. I took a quiet deep breath, Sćlid nudged my hand, making sure I didn’t let my emotions control me. The shadows started sparing with the sword, purposely missing and hitting rocks. Then, on one hit, the sword chipped. Big. Leo’s narrowed eyes widened, his breath caught, he went limp, giving up. Sćlid grabbed my hand in his jaw, but I ran too fast. I wasn’t thinking, just running. I slashed through both shadows in one, clean, swipe of my pocket knife, making four shadows to fight now. I slashed the bear’s eye, sending it running. I cut through Leo’s ropes, he was shocked but understood what was happening. He grabbed the two pieces of his sword and ran back into the tree line. I started to bolt as well, but the now four shadows surrounded me, forms switching from human-like to animal-like. I gripped my pocket knife tighter, but held it up, ready to fight. One of the shadows tapped my arm, and I remembered that death touch ability one was talking about earlier. I fell to my knees before I could stop myself. Leo and Sćlid had run, they thought I was with them. I hit the ground. Everything went black. After god knows how long, I woke up and found myself in a cage. I was still alive. I reached for my pocket knife, but it wasn't there. Where was I? Everything hurt like a sword stuck in my side. I sat against the wall, scanning the bare cell. It had a small cot and a bathroom, but that was it. The front of the cell was barred, a locked iron door on the right side of the bars. Something was walking towards me. They had an evil red grin, like the shadow from the road, and orange glowing eyes with yellow rings around their pupils. No, they didn’t look like the shadow from the road, they were the shadow from the road. They kneeled in front of the cage, looking at me against the wall with that eternal grin. I was small compared to them, despite being 5’7, so the kneel was clearly a mock, used to look me in the eyes and make me angry. I wanted to stand, but I was too weak. I looked at them, glaring as their grin widened, mischief and malice dancing in their eyes. “Hello, Xidorn.” They said, voice playful. I realized he was a guy. “Who… who are you?” I tried to sound threatening, but my voice was a low rasp. He giggled slightly, I glared more. “Well, Xidorn, I am Ereubrak.” Ereubrak replied. I laughed slightly because it sounds like Ear-You-Brack. Ereubra

k’s grin widened, as if my reaction amused him. “You like it sounds, little seeker?” Ereubrak asked playfully. “Maybe.” I said between my small laughs. “Your friends don’t know where you are right now.” Ereubrak stated with that internal grin still on his face. “I know that, Ereubrak.” I replied, finally calming down. “But, uh, why am I in a cage?” I asked. “Oh, just… reasons.” Ereubrak answered, grin widening. “O… kay. You're not gonna hurt me, right?” I said. “Oh, I won’t hurt you.” Ereubrak replied, emphasis on the I. “Wait what?” I said, confused. Ereubrak disappeared in a cloud of darkness. “...... That was… Intresting…” I said, still confused and slightly shocked. Suddenly, Leo walked in, sword in hand. The sword was repaired, somehow, but with orange cracks in it now. Leo started picking the lock and gestured for me to be quiet. Sćlid followed him in. They picked the lock and Leo hauled me up. I could barely walk. And, for some reason, I couldn’t speak now either. Leo walked straight out, no problems, I was confused but I ignored it. He brought me back to the clearing and set me down, Sćlid sat next to me. I reached up to see what was making me mute, and I felt something cold and metal. My fingers traced it, and I found the locking mechanism on the back. I was able to get off, thankfully, and as soon as I did, I gasped for air. “HE GAGGED ME!” I exclaimed, shocked and a little angry. How was I even talking to Ereubrak? It must have been telepathy, like I can do with Sćlid. I felt so stupid, why did I feel safe around him? “Thanks for saving me again, Leo.” I said as I sat up. Leo was smiling, as usual, when he saw me. He was sharpening his sword. I decided not to ask about the cracks. Sćlid nudged my hand, and I pet him. “I’m alright, Sćlid, thanks to Leo, that is.” I told Sćlid as I pet him, making sure he knew I was alright. Leo was unusually quiet, probably shaken up from the sword thing. He traced the edge of the sword, avoiding the orange cracks. He sighed quietly, sad, hollow. Completely unlike him. I watched for a moment then I sat next to him, leaning against his shoulder. “What’s wrong?” I said as I watched his sword. “Just… stuff.” Leo replied. “Leo, you know you can tell me anything, right?” I said, hoping to reassure him. He smiled a dry smile. “Yeah, I know, Xidorn.” He replied. “Then tell me what’s wrong.” I stated, voice firm for once. “I…. My sword is connected to my lifeforce. I-It’s part of this curse I got.” Leo said sadly. “What curse?” I asked, hoping for more information. ”I… made a deal. A few years ago. I… I told him I’d do favors whenever he wanted, as long as… Nevermind.” Leo looked away, upset.
