Adagio For Strings by LeonardBirdstein

Barber's Adagio for Strings, well-known for its use in many movies (none of which I've seen or can remember the name of) always feels to me a representation of the horrors of being gay in a time when it was illegal. Just something about its sweeping melancholy feels very queer-coded (and Barber was a lovely little gay man too).

Give it a listen sometime - even if you don't like classical music, just try the first minute or two of it.
