From the moment Neo joins the team, she and Jack are at odds.
Neo: “Listen up, hotshot. You will treat this team with respect, starting now. I’m in charge, and if you want to stay in this unit, you’ll take my orders seriously.
So take your chest-puffing somewhere else.”
When Neo joined the team as the new leader, Jack acted as if she were an impostor who had stolen his promotion (he had expected Ross to promote him to Chief Detective, but his plans were ruined when Neo became the next Chief Detective). He made it clear that he thought she didn’t deserve the role, and, hurt by this “betrayal,” he treated all the team members with unpleasant disrespect. Neo stood her ground and put him in his place.
This is how an absurd rivalry from Jack was born, one in which Neo often gets the upper hand, either by standing her ground or teasingly flirting with him to catch him off guard lmao
As the story progresses, they either become good colleagues or even fiercer rivals (and maybe there could even be romantic tension??)
