those are not tattoos friend :)
they were scars before hand but after Ness was tainted by death they started spreading and forming spiral paterns to mark him as "cursed" and "othered" >:)
hence the long sleeves, to hide them

Though Danni was pretty scared and put off by Ness and his... bad (mad scientisty) habits, but also a bit curious about the weirdness surrounding him
Ness thought they were kinda funny but didn't exactly think much of em (not outta any malice or anything, he just thought there was no point in above surface level interaction since people tend to hate and ostracize him)
