I have a post about the scars in a small detail, but those black marks are there actual skin! The porcelain outside is like a turtle shell in my own words, they act more as a barrier to protect the bodys sensetive skin! Hence, after completing the contracts for the devil, the wounds were already permanent scars(and the devil may or may not made sure the cups remembered the injuring during that time.)
Long story short there scars made by their REAL skin from the contracts.
