How do people make their art look soft with the colors RAHHH, istg people who make the colors look soft in their art is amazing ngl -sigh-

i think they put like a layer entirely colored and they use like blue or orange, or complementary colors and they erase some of it to make it look like shadow or lighting

but i think it involves lke, a soft eraser like the soft brush idk
