Playback animation test by The_Adjudicator
Professional animators would tell you that animations run more smoothely when a smear effect is added to frames with fast movement. So I made a side-by-side of sprites animated with and without smear-frames to compare.
Animation begins in the orange portion of the playback bar.

This is really good, especially the smear version, i love using the smear technique, its really good for when the the subject is acting out a fast movement, or a dramatic movement. Its simple yet makes it more believable.
One tip i do recommend is, when choosing a frame to smear, for example this wyvern, i would just smear the wings and leave everything else a smooth movement, because the wings will be the only part of the body that will be making a quick movement, and it'll look natural too.

but thats just how id do it, there are plenty of ways you can animate a smear animation, either way it looks amazing! ^^

While working on a painting, in the layers menu, you can use your pen or finger to slide the layers up and down. To to increase or decrease the speed by which actions take place in the playback, you may need to do something else in between to delay frame swaps.

Thank you for the advice. This was a recreation of my first attempt at animation using Aseprite a couple weeks ago. There's still more I'd like to learn, so I'll take any advice you're willing to give.

That's really impressive! I wish that the team implemented some sort of animation studio in this app where you can freely do animations like this and even include audio to it. I would love for them implement something like that along with painting will make this app even more awesome!
That aside, once again, it's an awesome animation!

wow, this is awesome, i like the way you draw the pixel dragon and i really appreciate the animation here in colors live, its a really creative way to use the colors live tools, and its a open door for new possibilities, good animation! keep going your amazing work!
