#06MummysCurse
It may looks different than 'conventional' mummy you've seen on movie, but this is really exist in Indonesia (without curse of course).
In the central highlands of Papua, especially among the Dani tribe in the Baliem Valley, there exists a rare tradition of smoke-mummification for revered leaders such as tribal chiefs or warlords. After death, their bodies are treated with animal oil, placed over low, smoldering smoke, and stored in the traditional “honai” hut—often in a seated fetal posture with knees drawn up.
The skin darkens, shrinks, features sometimes become skeletal and blackened, and preserved over many generations.
The practice today is largely discontinued or very rarely carried out, but existing mummies are still maintained as sacred ancestors, treated with respect, and seen as vital to cultural identity. [gulfnews.com]
