Hantu Jeruk Purut is a legendary headless ghost said to haunt the Jeruk Purut Cemetery in South Jakarta. According to the legend, the spirit is that of a decapitated pastor (or clergyman) who, after being k1ll3dd and having his head severed, wanders carrying his own head—sometimes accompanied by a large black dog—searching for his true grave, which some say is not in Jeruk Purut but in Tanah Kusir Cemetery.
The cause of the haunting stems from the violent and unjust manner of his death: the perpetrator murd3r3d both the pastor and a servant (Lasmi) and then donned the pastor’s clothes to deceive the community; later the murd3r3r was decapitated, and thus the pastor’s spirit remains restless, seeking justice or peace.
