I think maybe the difference is in how much time you spend here. I for one, am usually online once per day for an hour at most, and I typically assume most others are the same.
Another issue is this sense of tribalism that's cropped up where people seem only inclined to talk with friends, and not really build up the community. To give an example of what I mean, think about how often you go around and just hand out complimens to up-and-coming artists around here? Do you encourage them?
