Not doing furry art buut-- by MaggieSue327

One of my friends sent me a video of her cats playing with her sword (she fences)
and I feel inspired to draw her cats fencing, and mail it to her bc i think it would be funny,
the thing is, is that, while i've done a good deal of animal art, i am, STRUGGLING with anamorphic limbs
and heads,
heck, pretty much everything

so if anyone wants to share some tips, i'll be here, trying my hardest to find a good reference :-:

@Howdyhouler i'm not worried abt being perceived as a Furry, but now that you mention it--- (naw i'm just joking)
I jst don't want people to request furry art, or think that's something i'm gonna start doing becuase--- well, you've seen how some these people can be XD

When it comes to the rear legs of a cat, you can think of that 'reverse knee' rather as an extended foot. What looks like a reverse knee is actually the heel of the foot, and they just walk on their toes. It might help to picture the cats with long skinny feet, and walking on their toes. The lowere half of the leg (below the knee joint) tends to be a bit short relative to the rest of the legs.

I don't know if that's the advice you were hoping for, But I can give advice in other areas too.

Another bit that might help as far as references may go, I think Capcom did a pretty good job designing their Palicos for the Monster Hunter series. Their proportions are very cat-like, without being too antro-morphic.
There's a few good bits of fan art here on Colors under the #Palico tag.

That's the thing that I love about a good community. I was given some solid advice in my early days here, and I'm always happy to help pass that torch along to up-and-coming artists. I'm not going to pretend to know everything, but I think I've been around long enough to share tips and advice with justified confidence. I do hope to inspire others to some day do the same for their up-and-coming generation.
