The trick to goo pixel art is to have consistancy in the size of the pixels. There is something to be said about having biger pixels for foreground objects, and smaller pixels for background objects, but that's a creative desision to made on its own. Sure there's room for improvement, but no one said it had to be perfect from the start. Honing a skill requires patience and practice.
By all accounts, one only needs to look back at your early work to see how much you've improved as an artist.
