I'm really enjoying it so far! It's refreshing to see new protagonists in pokemon :)

I miss Team Rocket though, The Explorers are a bit TOO evil for my liking lol

And, also, it has the big bonus of having animated Rika in it <3

it can in no way be considered niche
(pkm IS the biggest franchise on the world im pretty sure?)
i think the reason you dont see much about it is because of the young fanbase.

( i did watch a couple episodes, it was cool though not my jam :sweat_smile: though im not impartial to trying again)

Having Ash on the show was cozy and nostalgic, but I never liked him too much as a character. His character development wad odd at times, randomly getting better at battling in some seasons and then worse in others.

Horizons seems to have some consistency, though. It seems to be more aware of older viewers and finds a good balance in appealing to both older and younger audiences alike.

Although, I will admit I kinda miss Ash. But only for nostalgic purposes. Liko and Roy are much more interesting protagonists, I think. But you know I'm really in it for Friede and Amethio. :) And any character from the games - especially Rika.

@AtomicNomic Yes, THIS!! Gosh, Rika... She adds so much to the table with this anime. I was nervous when I found out she was gonna get animated in the show. I thought her character was going to be over simplified and her voice acting might be bad, but - surprise, surprise - her animation and voice were really good. Like, almost spot-on for how I imagined her voice to sound like.

But you know what? You know what's even more surprising about this anime? I found out, that even without her in it, I actually like this anime?? I wasn't expecting that at all.

I do really miss Team Rocket, though. Like, more than Ash. They were funny... But the explorers are interesting. Like, their motives for bring "evil" are actually explained. Meanwhile, Team Rocket was never that deep. It was always just "go catch Pikachu because he's strong, I guess? Even though there's plenty of stronger Pokemon out there?" I really think Giovanni only ordered Jessie and James to catch Pikachu to get them out of his hair, lol.

Yeah, I might be one of the only few adults who watch this show... But I don't care, dang it! The plot might be a little cheesy, but it's good! I also has some darker undertones that I wasn't expecting? Nothing too crazy, but it does hint at a corrupt government.

I would recommend it, but I'm bad at convincing people to watch things... And if I'm to be perfectly honest? I'm watching it mostly for Rika, Amethio and Friede. And cute fluffy Pokemon. Because I'm simple like that, lol.

Actually, I have to wonder if Dot is a protagonist too. So, maybe Horizons has three protagonists? But Liko is the main one.

There's a Pikachu in Horizons too. He acts pretty similar to Ash's Pikachu, actually. His name is Cap and he's Friede's Pokemon.

ooo three protags could be interesting! i always love to see a few different prospectives of stories,
episodes going into side characters are always my favorite,
and i think not being confined to one pov can really help deepen the narrative!

no, I was not intrested in the switch 2. I don't want the new pokemon game either.

the only reason why I got pokemon scarlet was because of smoliv and wiglett . . fidough too but other than that I wouldn't have bothered.

sorry, I was not happy about the switch 2 very much. . sis crystal was telling me about the new games coming out but I don't want to spend 500$ on a new switch system. ; x ;
