Maybe give him some scars bu instead of them being red, make the scars/injuries black.

I have this idea that whenever someone w/ an ability (that can get infected, minus Dazai) gets hit/injured at all by the infected, it turns completely black, starting to spread along their body until they get completely infected.

Dazai ability can heal the injured before they get infected though.
In result, if Dazai healed them, they just keep a pitch black scar.

Basiclly, Dazai is the --

healer for this.

And for example, if they dont get to Dazai on time, or Dazai doesn't heal them at all by choice, they either die (if not strong enough and become food for the infected), or they just get infected.

So basically, all ability users/Yokohama is relying on Dazai, so this is all put onto his shoulders.

Dazai is so corrupted though since he lost Chuuya and such, so he has become way less talkative and kind, so he usually lets people die or get infected if they even LOOK --

similar to Mori or smt ^^

But Yosano, Ranpo, Atsushi, and Kunikida usually convince him after a couple hours to heal them.

Though, if Mori got scratches or smt by the infected, he's done for.

Dazai usually listens to Yosano and Ranpo the most when they convince him, since their sibling bond.

But since Yosano also despises Mori, and Ranpo hates him bcs of what he did to Dazai and Yosano, so Mori's dead.

Also the black scars is such a good idea, so i'll definitely add those to Akutagawa's next iteration

ALSO I HAVE AN IDEA SO WHAT IF ATSUSHI IS PARTLY INFECTED BECAUSE DAZAI WAS BEING DAZAI (depressed) SO HE KINDA ACTS AND LOOKS LIKE AN INFECTED (Aka semi-cannibal Atsushi, also i wanna make him look a little f-ed up :3)

Maybe Atsushi instead of being white for a tiger, he was black on half of his side where the tiger parts are, the other half normal color?
And his black half was like ink, constantly dripping onto the ground and staining it PERMANENTLY.
So everyone, mainly Akutagawa, knows where he goes, so they can find him when he gets lost.

Also i like to imagine Atsushi acts more like a house cat now due to how he's partly infected, so he'll headbutt and rub against people (To their annoyance bc of his inky/goopy body) he also growls and hisses at the slightest annoyance

(He also now hungers for meat, however its not as strong as an infected's hunger)

Then when Akutagawa said no, Atsushi would get and grumpy and stay standing there, but Akutagawa let him sleep on the ground next to the bed, he would just put some newspaer down.

Fun fact abt Atsushi's inky/goopy part!: It isn't like liquid! It doesn't sink through things! It may be stained there forever, but it isn't like water! So it doesn't go through the newspaper, basically just covers it in a un-removable black ^^

-- And yeah, Atsushu's hunger isn't as strong.

Akutagawa usually take Atsushi out secretly to eat some dead corpses or somethin once a month, Dazai and Akutagawa only know abt Atsushi's cannibalistic nature, so Dazai usually comes with Akutagawa.

I have this hc that Dazai is trying to be kinder to Akutagawa and try to be like a friend to him, or father figure beside Chuuya, but if he says anything similar, Akutagawa will think it's his approval and wont have z reason to live anymore :(

Yeah i headcanon that too, or at least he doesn't talk down Akutagawa that much anymore, because he is trying to change himself for the better

BUT ANYWAYS BACK TO THE INFECTION AU

Atsushi originally got infected trying to protect Kyoka or another Ada member, and he ended up getting slashed in his arm, It took Dazai a while to cure him because he was unfortunately in one of his depressed moments

Atsushi is too forgiving, but I think they all understand he lost Chuuya and almost everyone, so.

I HAVE SIGNED THE NON-EXISTENT ADOPTION PAPERS.

IM ILLEGALLY ADOPTING DAZAI.

Ooh yeah, maybe Kyoko or whatever Chuuya's mother figures name was got infected and ended up hurting kyoka?
