lemme help explain the boxes :]
So, the boxes help you determine the pose for the hand. For example, the classic box we usually draw for hands is just to have the fingers stick out, and they're good to draw for practice. If you make the box more curved, that helps make a base for clenching a fist. So, the box has to bend the way you want the fingers to bend. I can explain more by drawing it though.
