Gaukshu uses glasses since in their home planet they don't have a lot of daylight (and when they do its very dim)
because of that their vision is adapted for the dark and their sensitive eyes need protection from the earth's overwhelming brightness
(hence the glasses)

to compensate for the lack of visibility in their planet, their species has very acute hearing
