I'm sane guys, don't worry. by OracleofGelu

#Wc613

I've been waiting for an excuse to draw some of my lucid dreams.

Other than the top-right, each of these panels is a dream I actually have had AT LEAST once. :]

Please feel free to ask.
Please ask.
Sharing dreams is fun.

For context:
I am a lucid dreamer. The simplest way to define lucid dreams is: When a person is in a dream, and realizes they are dreaming. There are different strengths, however.

90% of people can remember at least one lucid dream in their life.

30% of people report having lucid dreams at least once a month.
And, like me, a very small percentage have lucid dreams.
Every.
Night.

Not only that, but lucidity is different for everybody.
You might find out you're dreaming, then immediately wake up.
You might know you are lucid, but are still subject to whatever your brain wants.
Or, like me, you might have near limitless control over what happens.
Sleeping is very entertaining, if you can imagine.

I still have limits though...
Please ask.

THIS IS SO COOL!!! I have crazy dreams ALL THE TIME, but they're not lucid :(
There goes my chance of winning haha :D

I know I've had lucid dreams before, but I rarely can recall any of them.
There's one however that I don't think I'll ever forget.
In this dream, I was a kitsune (japanese word for fox [though in this case more aligned with the myth and legend behind them there]). It started with me running around and just having fun, but at some point I came across someone who was looking for me because I had something he needed.

Ended up being somewhat prophetic a few weeks later...

Yeah, he is destroying a city, dw.
He was going to hit me with a lazer, but the simple solution is to command him to be friendly. :)

@--Galactic-Shadow--
I think so, but they are not common. Being lucid makes it near impossible to have a true nightmare. (I haven't a had one for 7 years.) Is it a recurring nightmare, or a different one each night?

OracleofGelu

@The_Adjudicator
Most dreams I chose to be a lizard-like dragon, more fun that way.
If you don't mind, please continue. Sounds interesting.

Very well. I don't usually share this story because it's a bit personal to me, and if I didn't experience it myself, I'm not sure I would have believed it.

I guess to keep it brief; during my second week at the Missionary Training Center, I had that dream one night, and thought bout it from time to time because of the way it made me feel.

A couple weeks later, while out looking for teahing opportunities, my partner and I crossed paths with a man who jestured us to come over his way..

The_Adjudicator

25 Jun, 2025, 11:49 pm

(Continued)
He told us that his brother had been in a comma recently, and lost his strength to walk as a result. He then invited us in to meet this brother, who told us of a dream -he- had recently wherein God told him some messengers have a book, and when he reads it he will be able to walk again.
We then introduced him to the Book of Mormon.

However, because their family is primarily Hispanic, we suggested they meet with the Spanish speaking Missionaries, and attend with them.

(Continued)
I've thought about this encounter often since then.

A few weeks after that, we happened across their family again, and to my delight, the man was able to walk again. He had to use crutches now, but he was making remarkable progress.

It's been several years since then, but I remember all the details clearly.

On a side note, of the panels you've depicted here, the one on the bottom center has my interest.
Does that one have a story to it?

OracleofGelu

26 Jun, 2025, 3:20 pm

@The_Adjudicator
Thanks for taking the time to share that with me.
While I don't completely agree with Mormonism, qualms I have are about the religion itself, rather than those who follow it.

I'm sorry to say that so bluntly, but I feel that I need to speak up a bit about that.
Argh, it's always hard to talk about/ with different religions without sounding closed off or rude. Sorry if this comes off that way.
Glad to hear the man recover his mobility. Miracles are miracles.

OracleofGelu

26 Jun, 2025, 3:59 pm

@The_Adjudicator
Not quite a story, but yes.
If I have a nighttime dream and stare at the sky too long, brilliant colors show up. Sorta like a hybrid between northern lights and fireworks.
Unfortunately, they also signal impending doom (waking up) since at least one is a meteor or black hole.
Of all the things I can't fully control while dreaming (zombies, bugs, water depth [often too shallow]), this is the biggest problem.

The_Adjudicator

26 Jun, 2025, 8:49 pm

@OracleofGelu
Interesting. I'm not really blessed with being able to interpret dreams, so this is outside my area of expertise. But I do find it to be a fascinating topic for discussion.

And don't worry, I'm not at all bothered by your thoughts on faith. Given the circumstances, I don't blame you one bit. I used to be in that boat myself. I've heard it all.
What changed for me was when I actually studied what they believe, rather than rely on what others had to teach about it.

The_Adjudicator

26 Jun, 2025, 9:04 pm

I think a good example of what I mean is moddern Japan. We tend to think delightfully on the advancements they've accomplished in science and culture, however if we had only ever heard of the atrocities committed by the soldiers during the second World War, namely the Nanjing massacre, and how they allied with with the Axis, we'd assume the worst about them, even though it does not accuratey reflect on their culture and who they are as a people.

The_Adjudicator

26 Jun, 2025, 9:22 pm

Studying with the Missionaries was a massive paradigm shift for me. Not only was everything they taught believable, but the more I looked into it, the more everything started to make perfect sense.

Not to try and preach to you, or convert you to anything, but if you are curious;
At present, I am convinced that the fall of Adam and Eve was not only part of God's plan, it was the hinge on which the plan would swing into full effect.

I think 1 Peter 1:18-20 is a good conversation starting point.

OracleofGelu

26 Jun, 2025, 9:55 pm

@The_Adjudicator
I agree with that.
Imagine if God was unaware that the Fall would happen.
Always a weird conversation with people. 'Why didn't He stop us from sinning?'
So we wouldn't be robotic sláves. He cared for humanity as his finest creation so much, that he gave us true choice. Animals act on instinct or reaction, but we can plan, decide on equal paths, or even act against the Almighty.
The freedom and creativity He gave us is unrivalled.
I'ts a sad thing that, well, humanity sucks.

Another thing to be grateful for.
While I understand that time is worthless to God's existence, imagine knowing that at some point you would have to be torturéd and kiĺled at the expense of a creation that hated you.
His love is so great, thank goodness.
(Did I come off as not being a Christian? Genuinely would like to know. I'm pretty vauge most of the time.)

@OracleofGelu
Indeed. I think I remember you having Christian written in your Gallery Description when I first looked at your Gallery. That's part of the reason I followed in the first place, but also because I saw a lot of potential in your early paintings, and I wanted to see you grow as an artist, and you do not disappoint.

I tend to be vague about my faith as well, for a few reasons, probably not ones you'd expect, but I've had open ended religious conversations with various people.

The_Adjudicator

27 Jun, 2025, 1:38 am

I'm glad we're on the same page regarding God's plan. I've seen a bit of discord online regarding the fall, and why it happened. I think the easiest way to settle that one is with just two inspired questions. Regarding the verse I wrote above, it implies that Jesus was prepared "before the foundation of the world". -Prepared for what?- to be the Savior of course. So then surely He was part of the plan from the beginning, -Was He prepared as plan A, or plan B?- Plan A for sure.

The_Adjudicator

27 Jun, 2025, 1:44 am

It gets more interesting when you include Revelation 13:8, giving particular focus on the phrase ".. the lamb slain from the foundation of the world", with Jesus as reference to the Lamb of God.
Do you remember in Genesis when Adam and Eve were cast out, God gave them a coat of beast skins to cover them? Where do you suppose He got the skins from? and what do you suppose that could mean?

While I admit it is a little bit of a stretch, symbolically speaking, it fits together neatly.

OracleofGelu

27 Jun, 2025, 3:21 am

@The_Adjudicator
Something I've been thinking on lately is the length of time they were actually in the garden of Eden.
I personally believe that the seven days are literal. (Imagine if calendars were based on millions of years XP)
I also believe that Genesis speaks almost completely cronologically.

Therin lies part of the problem.
The command to fill the earth was given BEFORE they were naughty and got evicted, but they only had children afterwards.

OracleofGelu

27 Jun, 2025, 3:21 am

Unless pregnacy took longer then, I don't think that bodes well.

The_Adjudicator

27 Jun, 2025, 1:31 pm

@OracleofGelu
The creation story is an interesting one. We know that the record states 6 days of creation, and the seventh day of rest. However, 2 Peter: 3 adds an element of difficulty to it, especially if the days were measured by God, and not by man ("..that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.").
If that were true, the days of creation, if measured by God, might have been more akin to 7,000 years.

The_Adjudicator

27 Jun, 2025, 1:38 pm

It was also common in the Hebrew language for "day" to represent a variable time period. For example: "the day of Moses" refered to his whole life span, "the day of the Lord" referes to His reign in the millennium.

And to an Eternal God who resides outside of time, there really is no true measurement of time. For all we know, Peter was speaking metaphysically, and the "thousand years" was just a mortal perspective of Eternity.

The_Adjudicator

27 Jun, 2025, 1:44 pm

So in conclusion:
The seven days of creation could have been 7 literal earth days, or it could have been 7,000 literal earth years, or even seven milliseconds for all we know.

Either way, here we are.

Oh, and here's a thought experiment:
If God is the same yesterday, today, and forever, then it stands to reason He has always been a creator, is still a creator, and will always be a creator.
So what do you suppose are the odds we can find evidence of creation thoughout millions of years?
